Wages and prices skyrocketed since covid and never came back down. The wage hikes were to get people to actually work. At my former job they went from hiring grunts at close to minimum wage to $20 just to walk in the door. Local subway began hiring at $16 an hour in a rural town. Of course they're related.

Labour costs are always built in to the prices of the products and services you buy. But why do you think they want to make a distinction between labour costs, other costs, and profit? Think you would ever see a sign that said 'we've added a rent surcharge on to your bill to help cover the cost of the premises', or 'here's a dividend fee to help us provide a return to our shareholders'?

Of course not. They want you pissed at the people who are barely getting by for asking for too much.

Subway has had record sales the past 2 years. They make more than enough that they do not need to raise the prices.

They're just doing it because people like you will carry water for them without giving it a second thought and blame it on lower class people demanding more money.

Lol subway is trash anyway. I liked em in the 5$ era but nowadays they just dont taste good. It smells so good in walmart cuz of them but everytime i would go and buy a sandwich, it was garbage.

I'm saying when certain wages double over a 3 year period you'd have to be brain dead to think greedy corporations won't adjust the prices accordingly. In a perfect world, they wouldn't. Increasing profits is their #1 priority.

Subway fucking suck. They charge 3 bucks for a bag of chips that Walmart literally sells for 50 cents.

They sell cokes, which cost like 15 cents including the cup.

They sell shit cookies at 10000% markup.

They run their entire locations with 2 workers during lunch rush.

Fuck subway. We'd all be better off without it. At least other fast food tastes good. Subway tastes like shit and it's bad for you.

Good. I hope they run themselves out of business. There are FAR better sandwich places than subway. The last few I've been to sealed the deal. Overpriced, workers didn't care and the food sucked.

Yeah subway priced themselves out of my business a while ago. I know they were trying to get into the tip game as well but it looks like noone was buying it.

This is 100% just a way to increase prices without raising the advertised prices on the menu. Similar to DLC in the video game industry; $60 for a new game is too low to be sustainable, so higher priced DLC is necessary to keep the industry afloat if theyre not going to start charging $80 per game.

At this point I'm practically just going to local places since the prices (with tip even) are almost equivalent, and I'm not contributing to these continued record profits year after year.

But Little Caesars still has my business, for now.

Just as I have no fucking idea how anyone believes capital when they blame increases in wages for an increase in prices (especially since labor costs are such a small factor in pricing)

in order ro avoid raising prices, we will charge you 10% more. This, my friends, is some real Donald Trump logic here.

I just eat at home. I only hit a drive-thru if I'm out for longer than I expect to be and NEED to eat, and I don't eat in a sit-down restaurant at all where I'd be expected to tip half the bill.

subways are chain restaurants. most locations are privately owned.

what you see about the mark-up is likely a decision by the store owner, not the owners of the subway brand.

that being said they are shit; taste like shit and should be erased. jersey mikes subs are far superior imo.
