what are your ways of bouncing back, if anything? i find nothing personally works. i cant nap either, once i'm up, i'm up until bed time.

just concerned i'm going to end of like the other day, and last nights sleep was even worst than that night.

i have insomnia as it is, but been kinda staying up later lately, and waking up completely early hours, once i feel my body awaken even the slightest i cant sleep anymore, so i just get up fighting the day.

Go for a run, take a shower, do some stretches. Roll the window down in the car to get blast of wind in the face.

  • skip coffee (the day you want to be able to catch up on sleep at the end of)
  • go to bed at exactly the right time, which is early but not too early. hard to get right. (you should get 8-9 hours from when you actually fall asleep. don't start getting ready at the 8 hour mark. but also don't try to get 12 hours or you'll wake up too soon.)
  • don't eat too much right before bed.

This day is gone. We can't relive it. It's gone forever.

stretches suggestions? i'm not familiar with stretching really. just had my grandpa show me various weight exercises that i only did 1 set of with 15 pound dumbbells per arm.

yeah that's been some of the issue lately tbh, been staying up until 11 or 12 just zoning out reading gamefaqs/reddit or posting. then i wake up a lot, and my body wants to wake up at 6-7 and i cant fight it despite tiredness. i typically go to bed 8-9.

Your getting older. I have bad news, it gets worse.
Every year your stress builds up and your sleep gets worse. I'm already up to twice a week with a night of no sleep. See your doctor for pills, it's fine. You'll find certain days are worse. Me it's usually Sunday night.
Drinking does not work.
Melatonin makes it worse.
Working out does not work.
Going to bed and waking up at the same time does not work. It actually makes it worse because you panic about going to bed on time and panic when you don't fall asleep then panic that you'll be tired.

According to my mother, this continues until 2 years after you retire, then suddenly it snaps and you finally relax.

The only actual useful trick I have is stop caring. Be like a teenager and stop caring when you fall asleep or wake up. Can't sleep? Whatever, start work at 4am if you can. Or go watch tv. If you can teach yourself to stop worrying about getting sleep, you'll start getting sleep.

Other trick is if you have the 4 notes of a song stuck in your head. Turn on the tv, just loud enough so you can almost make out what is happening. Focus on that noise and try to hear what is happening. It'll stop that maddening song

Fuck all these suggestions.

Do these things and you'll be fine.

1. Don't have coffee during lunch or dinner.

2. Cut out all shitty foods like cookies, chips, bread, etc, or just cut out sugar entirely.

3.Go to bed at a constant time so your REM cycle can be consistent and not broken.

4. Avoid screens entirely an hour or two before bed and read instead. Because screens keep you awake, while reading gets your brain ready to sleep instead.

5. If you can, play some soft relaxing music, or soft relaxing sounds in the background. Like rain and a fire in the background, or a Sound Bath like the video link I posted.

My sleep habits make me feel like a wind-up toy. So if I sleep for 3 hours and something wakes me up in the middle of the night, I will be wide awake for 3 hours then crash at the end of it. This sucks because by then it'll be just about time for me to start getting ready for work and I won't have time to get anymore rest when I actually feel tired again. Then I just feel like death all day

As for falling asleep in the first place, I recently learned that I can't sleep in silence anymore. So I ordered a white noise machine and it's been doing wonders for helping me fall asleep and stay asleep for hours. Also I do my pre-bedtime routine like showering, brushing my teeth, etc. at least an hour before I start heading to bed since that tends to wake me up. Reading a book in bed with dim lights is also a good suggestion
