Whats your definition of late term abortions?

do you actually know the mechanics of pregnancy? The complications that can occur? Are you fully educated to even be able to have an opinion?

I'm not ok with it either, but I think it should be a patient and doctor decision. Politicians should stay out of it.

TC, I get what you're saying, but you should really seek out better information and reevaluate your stance. We don't have to be super ok with it to accept that they nearly always happen for dire reasons that those going through it are definitely not super ok with.

That's absolutely fine. Whether it's dumb or not is irrelevant. You're not forcing it on other people, which is what really matters.

Late term abortions are okay. What you probably disagree with are the tiktok cringelords who advocate for post birth abortions.

They are exceedingly rare, and are almost always limited to situations where the mother's life is in danger and/or the foetus is not viable.

The idea that women are using late abortion as routine birth control is lies and propaganda.

Not at all. Wanting late term abortions outlawed is literally saying "I think women should have bodily autonomy but only until I think they shouldn't any more." It's an unfortunate situation and you don't have to like it to recognize that it should be legal.

There are growing number of cases of woman in red state told the pregnancy was not viable, something was wrong, that her body will likely naturally miscarry soon, and then shes sent home to wait. In several of those cases waiting puts her long term health in risk and may cause her to be unable to get pregnant again but shes likely to live even if she waits so it doesnt trigger the states life of mother exception. Its a shitty situation we are forcing women into.

Pregnancies don't always end up viable for one reason or another and sometimes you don't know about it until almost over.

There's no real such thing as an "elective" late term abortion. If a fetus is healthy enough to survive outside of the mother then it will be delivered as normal.

And what women are finding in red states is health is subjective. If you dont get an abortion theres a 10% chance of complications and those complications could affect your ability to get pregnant again is both a real threat and not the absolute people picture it as. Doctors dont want to risk jail time. Letting a prosecutor tear into you on overblowing a small risk is not something theyve been willing to do.

If you cant take your depression meds while pregnant than Id count that as a health of the mother situation but the red state laws dont. Maybe she wanted to have a kid and tried going off her meds but 9+ months is a long time. The plus because she might go off meds when she first started trying to get pregnant.

Anyone who stands for these laws doesnt prioritize the mothers health whether they are willing to admit that to themselves or not.
