....students? I went to an above avg. h.s. at least. I don't remember a single one, maybe there was 1 between 2 girls. Supposedly fights happen many many times more in middle school though

Constantly, every day until there was some complaint from some local. Then we'd get beefed up security until it got lax again, and the cycle continued. It was good times for some of us, but I'm sure others are traumatized for life.

Mostly people used to arrange to fight outside school though.

yeah there were a decent amount. Saw a few in the hallways, but most were in the locker room or on the practice field where kids could get away with it without being punished.

I went to a state school for the first two years of high school and yeah fights were fairly common. I even got into a couple and I'm not violent at all, but sometimes you need to stand up for yourself.

Then I got a scholarship to go to a private school and they basically never happened.

Why did your parents choose homeschool though?

Here and there I guess, but I don't recall hearing about very many.

Yeah I guess private high schools are usually much better. Esp. in like a bad area, public school for that area...etc .. maybe like a wealthier city or area the public school would be very good

yes, there was once area in my high school that had fights fairly often. 99% of the students were normal and could control themselves, though.

Fights were incredibly common in my school.

I went to middle school in a diverse area and then we moved to a wealthy suburban area for grades 9-12. more fights in middle school but I saw a few in high school as well. Many high school fights were arraigned at the local park down the street. I saw more weapons in middle school though.

There were two major high schools here. Charleston High School, and Stonewall Jackson High School (yeah). These schools hated each other. The school board decided to build a new school building and merge these two schools. Called it Capital High School.

I started my first year of high school when this one opened. The first two years there were fights almost daily. Two dudes would just start throwing hands in the hallways between classes.

back then my school didn't have a school cop. Prob now almost all high schools do....Did you school have a metal detector though?

The bullying was never really fights. Just one sided bullying

Not really. There was animosity sometimes, but it rarely lead to fights.

For us we had way more in Junior High. In HS there were a few, I got in one in a classroom. Two at the bus stop in 4 years.

Getting into brawls was the best way of making friends. Even if you take the more fair share of blows more people will respect you for it.
Running away from fights basically paints a target on your back saying "Please bully me!"

Partially true. Didn't automatically make you friends with your opponent, but sometimes it did. For me it actually ended 2 friendships after we fought. Still feel guilty about them

I was in a fist fight. A guy was throwing an empty plastic bottle at my friends. I put the bottle in the bin. He squared up to me, I pushed him back and he fell over, came back at me swinging.

Thats funny. I went to Capital as well, though notably later. Definitely not as many fights when I went there. I honestly dont remember seeing that many fights in the years I went there, but they werent nonexistent either.

Occasionall. I distinctly remember one where a big guy picked on another guy, who apparently did boxing.

So the big guy was just hammering on the other one, who sort of blocked everything by holding his hands up and to the side of his head. Big guy got tired, other guy struck, hitting him square on the nose.

Big guy stumbled a bit, his nose began bleeding like a faucet and he collapsed like a sack of potatos.

Worst thing i ever saw at school was in my 9th grade year, an 11th or 12th grader just unmercifully beat up his girlfriend before 6th period. It took two teachers and like 4 football players to pry him off of her. Only thing she did was talk back to him. He had a full ride football scholarship but was immediately expelled and arrested. What a waste, the girl lived but her face was hamburger, it took a year of surgeries and therapy until she was able to come back. Think he got wasted in prison...

I went to private middle and upper school, and fights were nearly unheard of. One would have inevitably resulted in a more serious fight, between three sets of lawyers. There was still bullying, of course, but it was all psychological.

Not really. Maybe a couple a month or something like that?

I'm not going to make a blanket statement, but I went to a very good school that gave me a great education and got me into a top college, while only trying hard enough to get into a very good college. My wife had the same experience (different schools). Our classmates generally had the same experience, too. I transferred from a solid public school system, while she would have been in an objectively bad public school system.

Nope. Not sure if it does now or not. I think they hired another cop as a security guard though. My school did have a zanny history. There was a drug bust that went awry at my school where several security guards had to go to the hospital. Good times.

I participated in 1 of them that formed a huge crowd. I was in 7th grade.

Got suspended for like a day or two?? Idr it was my first offense. The other kid got like 10 days suspension.

My highschool had a better environment. I moved to a diff country the summer before 8th grade. So the environment was completely different. People were much less aggressive

why did the other kid get 10 days. Bullying is reportedly many times more common than in middle scool than in h.s. Wonder why though. the aggressive school was in u.s.?

Uncommon in both schools I went to.
Middle school was infrequent (a lot of the nonsense and energy were mostly the boys brawling in the gym locker rooms due to wrestling being super huge around those times).

High school even less-so. Maybe once a month at the most?
