On the ground here over in the UK these are the basic cliffnotes I'm getting from the news:

  • Despite everything Trump is slated to win the election by a landslide and subsequently pardon himself, increase tariffs, wage the war on the "woke moralists" and drain the swamp by...replacing it with an even bigger swamp
  • LGBTQ rights are evaporating faster than water in a frying pan
  • As are your rights to...read books in libraries that are not wildly conservative in nature
  • Gutting of education funding across the board, teachers leaving the profession en masse
  • Abortion rights are gone and buried
  • Every important judge of note is now republican with a lifetime appointment

Ultimately depends on your state. Some states it's worse than others

I'm guessing they mean Federal supreme Court judges.
5 of the 9 are conservative and that's what got abortion rights taken away from federal level to the state level. There have been some surprise liberal outcomes, but yeah. It's a conservative court right now.

Basically Republicans say the quiet part out loud now and still get support from voters. But it's worse than that because you have know-nothing MAGA stooges getting into office and they offer jack and shit for the country, other than charlatan claims of 'sticking it to the libs'. The courts have been getting screwed over for decades as a previous generation of Republicans played the long game; and in general they go by a totally different and uninhibited playbook compared to Democrats.

Basically the country is heading toward some sort of political crash and reset. The amount of damage that will be done is unknown at the moment. Best case scenario though is that Republicans lose their grip on power and get sent all the way back to being a small political minority that is just strong enough to curb only the most outlandish aspects of what Democrats want. That's the only real healthy way they could contribute to the political system.

* Despite everything Trump is slated to win the election by a landslide and subsequently pardon himself, increase tariffs, wage the war on the "woke moralists" and drain the swamp by...replacing it with an even bigger swamp

Mostly true but a landslide is not projected. Its fairly even and too early for polling to stick.

* LGBTQ rights are evaporating faster than water in a frying pan

Half true. Red states and many rural areas are waging war on LGBTQ people. But anti LGBT laws are dead in the water federally and in most blue states. And they did pass a law protecting gay marriage federally last year.

* As are your rights to...read books in libraries that are not wildly conservative in nature

A little true but the effort is not THAT powerful. Its mostly a book here and there outside a few towns that went crazy and defunded the whole library.

* Gutting of education funding across the board, teachers leaving the profession en masse

Gutting has been ongoing for decades. The en masse loss of teachers is mostly recent though.

* Abortion rights are gone and buried

In almost half the country yes. However voters are punishing the GOP and restoring rights even in many red leaning states. Ohio is leaning towards codifying abortion rights today. If it fails it will be narrowly only because a massive amount of deceptive tactics. Support is over 60% for abortion. Deep red states are still mostly fucked though and some purple or red leaning states that might support it don't have ballot measures or are super gerrymandered and the state congress just ignores what the people want.

* Every important judge of note is now republican with a lifetime appointment

Mostly true. Biden appointed a lot of judges and there are are a fair amount of prior dem or centrist judges. But Trump fucked us a lot and the Supreme court is mega fucked.

  1. Donald will probably be found guilty and not be able to run
  2. Theres big push back on Trans rights and its slowly trickling towards gay people in some states
  3. Some red states are banning certain books at school
  4. True
  5. Well on some states theyre definitely gone
  6. Trump did appoint many mid level judges besides packing the supreme court. Some say thats one of his biggest achievements for conservatives.

I'm a firm believer civil rights issues will never lose in the end over here.

Might have setbacks here and there but overall it's gonna continue to get better.

That's as far as law on paper goes though. Can't help the citizens themselves aside from lock em up. But if that's the case damage was already done.

We are in a constant cycle. We have x amout of years with one party in charge and enough people think their life still sucks so they vote the other way. Rinse and repeat. But even the Republicans know they can only go so far with their setbacks. If they came out with let's make slavery a thing again hardly anyone would support them.

And in my expierence with a lot of Republicans outside maybe LGBT they don't care for setting back others. They just don't care enough to vote Democrat. Give it a hundred years or so and I doubt they'll care about LGBT either.

Wish I could live to see the day when voting had no civil rights issues involved cause they are on the same page.

1.) It's still Biden favored, but support is waning and you can never say never. Americans are stupid or brainwashed and will take a literal fascist as long as they fall in line with who they hate.

2.) Depends on the states. The L, B, and G parts are still mostly okay, it's the T+ part is really taking a hit.

3.) Yes, lots of book bans are in effect in conservative districts. It's stupid and asinine and the fact that every child has access to the internet means it's stupid but ultimately circumventable.

4.) Teachers are paid paid shit, treated worse (see, book bans) and are constantly under literal gunfire so the profession is in dire straits.

5.) Again, depends on the state, but yeah abortion rights are on their way out.

6.) Conservative SC part is true, but, again, depends on the state. Plenty of liberal judges exist, they just don't make the news unless they're prosecuting one of the thousands of cultists.

We're pretty much on the same trajectory we've been on for decades where more and more of the wealth is getting concentrated toward the top. The wealth gap now is the highest it's been since before the great depression. If you're part of the 1% or especially the .1% then times have been better for you. For everyone else, economically we're all getting squeezed gradually harder each year to keep that upward flow of wealth going.

The media overhypes the disappointments of Dems while underselling the threat of the Christo-fascist party the GOP has become.

2 great recent examples of this:

1) Joe Biden is old, why he so old lmao (meanwhile the obvious GOP candidate is a dude 3 years younger, the former oldest POTUS, and who once said he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and not lose any votes, among many other things)

2) Recently when Mike Johnson gave a presser on how he wants to fund support for Israel by cutting all new funding to the IRS and used the phrase "fiscally responsible" like 12 times, not a single reporter there called him out on the fact that every report shows cutting that funding will ultimately lead to like -14bn in revenue due to uncollected taxes (IE funding)

They frequently let these Republicans come onto their shows and spew their bullshit narratives without any pushback. I once heard someone on the POTUS channel of SiriusXM, Julie Mason, have a federal House member from IA come onto her show and say "Dems want to allow abortions up to the time of birth" and Julie Mason didn't say not one fucking thing about how that's only in extreme cases or even that post 2nd trimester abortions make up like 2.7%

One of my progressive radio pundits on SiriusXM, who is a contributor for MSNBC and CNN frequently talks about how he's not allowed to call them Christian Nationalist/Christo-fascists or fascists in general, to do so he has to quote a governmental official about something, but they won't let him actually tell it as it is because "what will the Republican viewers we hope to appease think?! We don't want to seem biased and unfair!"

They're Christo-fascists directly or support candidates who have those policies, fuck them and what they think.

These fuckers will stand by and at times even help facilitate the success of these Christo-fascists for ratings and access journalism.

It's sickening and it won't save their asses after they help the Christo-fascists enact the state they want, which obviously won't allow free press.

Our entire fucking news media refuses to do this for fear they'll be blacklisted and I think it's one of the biggest reasons our government is corroding.
