Finally, the best Rainbow Road is here! RIP Toad Factory though. Some people made predictions for this here IIRC, but I don't remember what was said.

Also RIP to Piranha Plant Pipeline, which was the only Tour original to not be included, besides some RMX variants.

Still, it's an overall nice set of tracks for the final wave.

Also, I heard that 17 Mii suits were confirmed to be coming too, based on some of the ones in Tour.

I always thought Wii Star Cup was the best cup in all MKWii (if not maybe the best original tracks cup ever?) and now with the worst of its 4 courses making it into MK8D to join the other three I feel vindicated, lol (actually now I'm wondering what other historical cup, if any, can lay claim to having all its courses represented in MK8D?)

Peachette is pretty dumb but I know people were waiting for Funky Kong, at least he should be nerfed relative to MKWii

Also found it interesting how they spent so much time on Wii Rainbow Road in that trailer and then like, 5 seconds on each of the other courses. I guess it was to sync up with the background song but still found that a little odd (Wii Rainbow Road was a top 3 MKWii track for me so am very excited)

Going to feel so weird this being the last set, when did Wave 1 happen, early 2022? Time flies by... countdown to MK9 I guess, unless they really do pull out a 2nd BCP somehow

Yeah, I was like "Wow, they're really showing these courses" then realized the video was half over at the second course and was like "Wait, are they just not showing some of them?"

RAINBOW road getting so much spotlight in the final releasing of courses doesn't shock me.

Wii Star Cup may be my all time fav MK cup as well!

And yeah I think Rainbow Road is meant to be the big showy finale to the booster pass, like how 64 RR was a big showcase when the game first came out IIRC. It does look nice, maybe they put more work into that one than some of the others >_>

Peachette is ridiculous but I'm not bothered, we finally get the Kongs and Pauline is fun (she's also a heavyweight lol).

Rosalina's Ice World is my favorite surprise here. That, GCN DK Mountain, Wii Rainbow Road, SNES Bowser Castle 3 - all great picks. And lately the Tour tracks have been really damn good the last few waves when they started out pretty weak (never played Tour). Should be a great send off!

having never played 3DS but I remember lots of hype regarding Airship Fortress so I wouldn't have minded seeing that. Toad's Factory and N64 Wario Stadium are the other two biggest misses for me, and more Rainbow Roads, I guess. Lots of missed SMK potential to put some unique twists on those courses too.

But yeah it's tricky - even if they go halfsies and just do 24 courses in a Pass 2, they charged $24.99 for the first pass right? So I guess they'd go like, $14.99 for pass 2? then it just feels like leftovers, yeah.

now picturing them giving us a Luigi Cup with all the crap Luigi tracks, lol

they gotta keep a few out of this game to bring back in the next one

It's crazy how many Bowser's Castles got snubbed. Now that you mention it, that might be a sign they're gonna do another pass

Would love to see Maka Wuhu and Wuhu Loop as well. The multi-stage tracks are cool

But for real, I can't understand why they didn't bring back Piranha Plant Pipeline and my OCD hates the fact that that course is forever trapped on Tour.

It's weird that the datamine got so much correct right down to the T, yet got some stuff wrong in the last two waves (out of the final two waves, we lost an original, a Tour, and a GCN course and instead got two Wii courses and a 3DS course that we weren't supposed to get).

With the new remakes of SMRPG and TTYD I could actually see this happening. Of course, it will not be a new Mario Kart but a new super Deluxe version of 8!

As crazy as that Mario Kart Ultimate idea is, I kind of feel like Nintendo is going to have to do something like that to sell people on a new Mario Kart at this point. I can't imagine any new gameplay mechanics that will be worth giving up on the sheer amount of content 8 has.

Nabbit has already been in! He was in mario kart tour, so he's part of the 'everyone's here' Sonic can come too, as long as Sega approves.

oh wow that last bullet - one of my favourite things to do is offline versus races where I drive in reverse (since game won't let you properly drive backwards) to the finish line so I basically have to do 4 laps while the CPU leader is often halfway through their lap 2 by that point, then the challenge is catching up to win (there's only like.... 8 or 9 courses you can reasonably do this on). So I feel like that patch is going to interfere with my thing if it hits all game modes, but at least it'll quash the sandbagging in online races I hear is pretty bad.

....I mean if you drive in reverse avoiding the item boxes and then drive forward to take a box you still get the strong item, right? Or put yourself in a slightly-forward diagonal angle to hit two boxes, lol.

That's an interesting change. Most times I've done that, I always regretted it and would have done better just missing the item. Making it so the player has to collect different item boxes is interesting too, but damn... how am I supposed to remember every item box I collected!?

oh I read that as someone who sits on an item box so they get 2 items at once from that one box (another sandbagging procedure). I didn't even consider that taking that box on Lap 2 or Lap 3 would guarantee you don't get a strong item, but I guess a literal reading of that makes that the case? Ideally they just meant the "sitting still to get same box twice" move...

Oh you're almost definitely right. That makes a whole lot more sense

well it's the fact they said "during a race" that introduces an element of confusion, I don't blame you for thinking that, if i read it without sandbagging in mind then I'd have read it the same way. if they said "during a lap" it'd have been clearer but I guess they didn't want to be too clear...

I won't be able to play any of the new courses for a day or two but I did see some buzz already so, looking forward to them!
