Halloween is so overrated imo. The first one was good, second one meh, third was great, but everything after that is just so repetitive and obvious that it's not really scary.
I think that's the first positive opinion I've read of the third Halloween. Usually that's where it all starts going down hill.

I need to check out scream and more evil dead because of this topic

Halloween 3 is a solid movie. The worst part about it was being named one of the Halloween movies.

Yeah. The original intent of the Halloween movie franchise was supposed to tell a different story in each movie, but they kinda effed up with making Michael the central slasher villain back-to-back.

Scream. Even Scream 3 (the only legit bad one) is still a fun movie.

However, it does have that shitty TV series.

I'd consider watching it only as an experiment to see how fucking poorly an adaptation can be done.

Halloween 3 was awesome because it was different. Also the creepy stalker people freaked me out and it takes forever to reveal who they actually are. Just added a different dimension to the whole thing.

Also imo the original three Evil Dead movies and the series Ash vs. Evil Dead were 100% worth it, but I watched the first revival movie (from like... ten years ago now?) and it was pretty not great. Just felt like a thin allegory for drug addiction and missed a lot of the shock factor and weird creations of the originals.

Loved the Phantasm movies, discovered those a long time ago, was impressed they kept making one like every decade with the same cast. RIP Angus Scrimm though.

Doesn't compare to the movies obviously but ive wasted my time with much worse.

Hellraiser

Hellraiser is going to cause a lot of division. Some people say only the first movie is good, others say the first two, and some will say a few of the lesser talked about sequels are oddly good in addition to the first one.

However, there are some undeniable stinkers in the bunch. Hellraiser 3 is a disappointment that could have been great. It has some good ideas and good performances like the beautiful Terry Ferral (Lt. Dax on Star Trek: DS9) and Doug Bradley of course... but it just ruins all that with some genuinely goofy shit and nonsensical plot.

Pinhead goes to space, and has some vague connection to a virtual world game development company in two later sequels that were just awful as well. In between those, there are some decent grim noir style sequels that weren't initially going to be Hellraiser movies. One with a corrupt cop is especially good with a really dark ending and some creepy imagery... I think it was 4 or 5.

Scream is probably the best answer. They are surprisingly solid with even the worst of them (3) not being straight garbage. 1 is the only great one, but it's still 5/6 that are good.

Chucky is pretty high in my book. 1, 2, Bride, Curse and Cult are all pretty good imo. Even Seed has some stuff in it. That'd only leave 3 as the one I remember being just bad. That's 5/7, granted a generous 5 from me.

I know I'm in a minority, but I enjoyed every single Saw movie up until 3D. Only 1 was great, but I had fun with 6/7 of them. Wouldn't go so far as to straight up call them good though. Then Jigsaw and Spiral were booty so it's 6/9 at best.

Yeah, I think that they stop taking themselves seriously and go deep into self-aware comedy-horror helps a lot too.

Was three the one where it's a kid at military school? I thought that one was the worst... and it wasn't unwatchable, just dull and not scary at all.

Yup. I haven't seen it in a very long time, but I remember finding it really boring.

2 is a pretty good sequel and has the ending in the maze of Good Guy dolls. Bride is where it takes that big tonal shift that really worked. Seed took it too far with a big heavy dose of meta humor. Curse was more straight horror. Cult I think found a good balance of horror and comedy.

I remember reading that decades after I saw it.. Halloween 3 was actually the first Halloween I saw (and probably one of the first horror movies) so I was caught completely off guard, especially since I was about the boy's age when I watched it

Judgment Day. I fucking hated that movie. Could tell it wasn't Hellraiser right away. That opening scene was Crazy. If that had been the real take off point, they could have done much better, in stead we're left with what felt like an episode of a CW crime show. Seriously. They could have cut that down to 40ish minutes with 20 of commercials, and it would have been and okay episode. There just wasn't much happening and I wasn't invested anything or anyone.

I related the story in another topic. There is a logging company close to a town so while going the speedlimit which is 55 trucks will pull in front to get in the lane. I imagine like in the movie then taking too sharp a turn and chains breaking. Another was in the lane and one sliding out with the truck pulling out and it going through the windshield. Stuff like that. Going back is even worse having 3t of feed on a flatbed chevy silverado. That wont stop on a dime

Saw X is an incredible movie. Saw II had been my favorite of the original 7, but I'd say X is on par or surpasses II in terms of story telling. The traps are also really good. I hope you get the chance to see it soon, as I'd like to hear your thoughts on it. Also non-spoiler, don't want you to miss out on it, but there is a scene during the end credits, but nothing after the credits.

Avoid previews for X if you haven't already seen it, it gives away so much. I went in completely blind and had no idea what I was in for.
