Seeing comments saying Israel is going to get boots on the ground within Gaza tonight at 12AM.

Israel wouldn't give away the operation like that. They're going in at 10PM, or maybe 2:30AM.

Some of them are rehashing the rhetoric they spewed when Russia invaded Ukraine, saying this only happened because Biden is weak and the rest of the world doesn't fear America while he's commander-in-chief.

Others are saying he gave Iran $6 billion (from the recent prisoner exchange), which Iran funneled to Hamas to fund this attack. Blinken says Iran hasn't received that money yet, and that even when they do, they're under restrictions on how they can spend it (humanitarian aid, food, medicine, etc).

The Egyptian official said Egypt, which often serves as a mediator between Israel and Hamas, had spoken repeatedly with the Israelis about something big, without elaborating.

Why do people always forget that the PNA exists and continues to hold actual elections? The solution isn't to give Gaza Independence and make Hamas into official government representatives. It's to cut a deal with the PNA that involves them taking over Gaza and then completely purging Hamas.

Don't put the people who have a call for the global eradication of the Jewish people in their charter into official positions of power.

PNA and Hamas don't want a goddamn thing to do with eachother. At all.

Starving, bombing and roasting the hostages to death along with countless innocents is a pretty shitty alternative. The terrorists aren't going to bother feeding them if food is scarce.

2. Wait for demands
3. Investigate. Retrace the terrorists steps, interview witnesses, use intelligence services and existing knowledge of Hamas patterns etc.

More then that it made the protests against him nigh impossible to continue. A mix of fear of further attacks and pressure to rally around the flag.

They likely missed their chance to save their country from diving deeper into authoritarian fascism. Netanyahou will be able to do whatever the fuck he wants for "National security"

They actually need to protest twice as hard now more then ever. Anywhere that is relatively safe to do so currently.

Sure it does. Israel is right in the middle of the worst terrorist attack that has happened in the history of the country and all of your effort is focused on highlighting just how terrible Israel is. You're getting the same response you would have if a day after 9/11 people were going on and on about how terrible the US is.

You absolutely don't have to answer any questions I ask. But I'm going to ask them anyway, and you can feel free to dodge them, but if you think you're being clever about posting these little stories and "leaving other people to come to some conclusion" you should know it's not subtle. Don't worry about frustrations, though, your explicit non-answers are just as good as anything else you'd try to say.

This is a thread for live updates. Keep arguments and debates to a minimum, please. Another thread can be made for that.

I'm not sure how Israel created the situation when they were invaded by 4 countries literally the day after the British mandate ended and they signed their declaration of independence. if Israel had *lost* that war they would have been completely wiped out and Palestine wouldn't have even ended up existing because Jordan/Egypt/Syria and Iraq would have just annexed pretty much all of it. unless the Israelis were planning on taking over the whole area, but the articles I've read don't say that.

obviously war crimes aren't ok no matter who commits them, but they've also spent the last 70 years knowing they could be invaded again any time.

I never understand these talking points. Israeli violence against Palestinians is a daily occurrence. No matter the existence or lack of, of Hamas, israel is still a settler colonial occupation ethnically cleansing indigenous populations.
