Kinda difficult to explain what I like. I guess anything thats good? Ive already seen Shinsekai Yori and it was great. I guess at the moment Im in the mood for something darker/more serious I guess. Although I do like slice of life and drama and whatnot. Clannad was my jam as was bunny senpai

If you haven't seen Fullmetal Alchemist, that's the one to watch. If you don't mind watching two, watch the first anime then the second. If you're only gonna watch one, go with Brotherhood. Brotherhood is a more accurate adaptation of the manga, but it rushes through the first chunk of the story on the assumption you've seen the first one.

Attack on Titan is also phenomenal.

Paranoia Agent is great and it's only a dozen or so episodes if you're just looking for something bite-sized.

Monster is the opposite direction, being seventy episodes.

Black Lagoon is essentially an anime version of an American action movie and is a lot of fun.

if you're interested in space operas, I hear that Legend of the Galactic Heroes (the original) is definitely worth checking out.

jk i actually liked it at episode 1 but if you dont like it at episode 1 just drop it bro

i watched this series over the course of 6ish months. i thought it was pretty good tbh. never did finish the series because at the time it was unfinished and when new episodes started dropping i was just not interested anymore (and i forgot most of the details of the show. i just remember how i felt about the show)

actually yeah I might watch this one. i did watch season 1 I think, up until around where eren and the female titan are fighting
apart from that ive only seen some spoilers on youtube

I was expecting that, so my recommendation to you is now to watch the movie ASAP.

There is already a third one in works, so now you know what to do.

If you're in for something dark then I highly recommend Kaiji. It really goes deep into the dark side of human nature. You will 100% enjoy it.

I don't really go for dark stuff very much, so can't really help there. On the slice of life front, I watched Bocchi recently and that was a fun, if weird, romp. It doesn't dig hard into the social outcast aspect and portrays the MC as more of a misunderstood savant, so ymmv. I would have liked it better if she was a mid tier talent, or not really all that special.

Had a friend run through this series recently, and he informed me that there's a 2 hour movie that can be watched instead of seasons 1-3, as a heads up. Said friend was not enjoying it and was extremely annoyed that he watched all those episodes instead of just the movie.

I dropped off after Season 1 because it was too dark for me to get into.

I also nominate Attack on Titan. It's a bit of a meme how many parts the "final" season has been split into, but the show is phenominal.

If you liked Chainsaw man, you'll probably like Jujutsu Kaisen.

Eighty-Six is a mecha show that actually manages to show how hellish war can be.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a surprisingly dark deconstruction of a magical girl show and well worth the watch.

Fate/Zero is a great dark fantasy show that also serves as a solid entry point to the Fate franchise. Whether you watch more is up to you (I would) but Zero is perfectly fine as a stand alone entry.

and then season 4 is a clusterfuck. wikipedia says its 30 episodes split across 4 parts. but I see an episode 31 some places? what

Can't comment on the OVAs, but season 4 is just the next season. If you think of it as final season part 1 = season 4, part 2 = season 5 and so on then it makes more sense. I am unsure why it was marketed in this fashion.

In short, watch seasons 1, 2, 3 and final season in that order and you'll be fine.

I came to throw a recommendation for Dorohedoro. It's pretty weird, but it's got a hell of a lot of character and imagination. The general thrust of it is that it takes place mostly in a place called The Hole. It's a dreary and miserable place that has to deal with sorcerors coming in every now and then to experiment on people. The main character is a guy called Caiman, who has amnesia and a lizard head, and he's trying to figure out who he was and what happened to him.

I've seen people say that the original studio claimed it'd be the final season. When it switched studios and it became obvious that it was impossible, they were kind of stuck.

i started watching attack on titan again. i vaguely remember i got to the end of season 1 last time but dont remember much outside of major plot details and spoilers I saw so im just rewatching from ep 1. its pretty good still

Code Geass

The best rec is going to be Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

It's only 10 episodes, it's pretty, fast, well-written, and it'll catch you up on current pop culture.

They're great, the only real knock I'd give is that they make no sense without watching the rest of the main entries, which you've already done. It's the same studio that did Zero and UBW, so it looks beautiful.
