Exactly. DeSantis has been promoting "LGBTQ+ = GROOMER!" for a while now and I think that's the endgame here.

Yeah, the law is flagrantly illegal and will inevitably get appealed to the SC by the first dude it applies to. What the outlaw SC we have now does about that is anyone's guess.

(I would be fine w/ death penalty applying to cases of horrific torture where the victim managed to survive. But this law definitely goes too far.)

100% this. I don't support dealing death as punishment. I'm opposed to it on moral grounds; it's funny how abortion apparently cheapens life but the state having the right to kill you doesn't.
