Too many of the MAGA/proud boy leaders have been arrested to give things a more formal vibe, I think. If people do show up, it's going to be less people and more violent. Which is asking for the same treatment that the late night BLM protests received.

Think of the security guards and police officers who have to defend the capitol against these nutcases. Some were severely injured.

History cycles for a reason. Selfishness and tribalism can't be tamped down until the idiots clearly see how badly it hurts everyone (including themselves). WW2 taught the world (at least the West) a hard lesson that lasted until those that actively experienced it died off. The world is going to have to learn another hard lesson if it wants to get back to where it was.

Insurrection? Maybe/probably...but that's not the worst of our worries in the long run.

I don't know if it will be a full on insurrection, but the trumpers gonna be pissed if he doesn't win, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were violence because of that.

On the flip side, There are a ton of left leaning people who believe if trump is president again, this nation is truly doomed. I could see someone trying to assassinate trump if he won.

Which would honestly probably do more harm than good. At this point, Trump is more of a figurehead than an active participant in his cult. Martyring him would make that so much worse.

I feel like I have the ability to appreciate the ludicrousness of the situation without condoning the poor treatment of people just trying to do their job.

Let's see... the definition is "a violent uprising against an authority or government." Feels like we have several of those a year at this point, so probably.

Although if you specifically mean an election-day riot where the capitol building is swarmed, the security would be tight for that. On the right, you wouldn't be able to find enough people willing to do that, especially since most of the ones who might do it are still being punished from their previous involvement.

I think so because bad things will always happen and never go away while good things will never happen. If good things happen, then it's too good to be true, and they will be gone right away and immediately be replaced with something much worse.

Possibly, though it would take a very different form from the 1/6 version.
