The NES songs in this contest have been uploaded (by me!) in a format ripped directly from the emulated audio files. This means they not only have non-potato quality audio, but they also loop properly! If you've ever attempted to find halfway decent YouTube links for Mega Man NES songs (or anything NES for that matter) you might appreciate this. Loop points make this less of an issue, but I hope you at least enjoy the songs in great quality.

For the songs, Wily 1 is a classic for a reason (I imagine there will be a number of posts expressing some variant of this opinion). Woe to its opponents. The second match has a Mega Man Soccer song - can I just say I'm tickled chartreuse that we got a Mega Man Soccer song in? Zero Stage 2 is cool too (toohoo, one might say).

I might just be the only person in the world who discovered Touhou music (as its own thing outside of McRoll'd anyway) via a comment on a YouTube upload for Zero Stage 2

I'm not as high on Wily Stage 1 as a lot of people, but it's a solid track that I thoroughly enjoy. Apple Market feels like a joke track to me, being so short and not having much to it.

Wily Field has a more dramatic or villainous tone than I'd expect for a soccer game. Zero Stage 2 is fabulous. Starts out hard, and gets really good around the minute mark.

Wily 1 is still an iconic gem as ever, very daring melody and nice use of the soundfont, and surprisingly long too. I like it, it is full of greatness. On the flipside, Apple Market is a song that's been stuck in my head since I watched Mega Man Legends for the first time. Catchy and uite welcoming for a town, even for how short it is. I think I'll pick it! But there's little songs I'd not pick Wily 1 over.

Wily Field sounds just okay, it's built like a western song for some reason. I'm pretty sure I've heard better from this game. Oh, people wasn't kidding when they said Zero 2 was Lunatic Eyes. Well, other than that, this song is pretty danceable, and I like the eurobeatish intro. I approve! Easy choice

A fine start if I may say.

I'm lower on Wily 1 than consensus and I like that MML got a little representation, but there was a long list of tracks that I would've rather seen make the bracket over Apple Market. And I probably won't be voting for many X series songs in general.

Wily Stage 1 is an obvious classic. Apple Market is nice but too short. I don't really like either song in match 2 though.

There's a lot to say about Wily's Stage 1, but unmemorable is not one of them. Immediately hooks you with a sense of urgency, bears a catchy melody ... Yeah, while I think it's overrated, I do also understand why people like it. What better way to open a contest than with a classic? P.S. thank you rwlh for the uploads of NES Mega Man music!

Apple Market is a song with a short loop that for whatever reason doesn't feel so repetitive. I think if it was a higher energy song I might be annoyed but I'm just nodding my head along like "yeah, this was nice". Match 1 is harder than I expected it to be tbh.

Wily's Field's composition definitely carries this song for me. Off topic but the dead silence at the end of the track pissed me off I wanted to listen to more of this. Oh well ... presses replay button.

Dude haha I love this rave music let's go get it boysss. This was kinda unexpected to me as a Mega Man noob when I first listened to it. Even though the X series has some of the games that I actually know. Anyway, I think the edge goes to Wily's Field, but we have a nice start to today overall.

Ah, yes, my favorite X soundtrack is either the 4th or the 5th game, even if they have a few they I don't like. From MMX5, I would have also liked to see Opening Stage X, and a couple of other unused tracks (plus X vs. Zero and Duff McWhalen).

Poor Apple Market. I felt bad for every track I put in the path of Wily MM2. I enjoy Wily Field well enough but gotta give it to ZUNpet-less Full Moon.

There's no denying that Wily Stage 1 set the standard for what to expect from music for this series going forward, and it's certainly a fun song. I wouldn't call it top-tier personally, but I'd say it does its job remarkably well and gets you in the mood to finish the fight.

I think if you gave Apple Market another minute of developing its really nice sound, it'd be such a solid pick for this bracket. As is, I really like the calm innocence it carries and the overall happy vibe it gives me.

Wily Field starts out pretty promising! I do wish the synths didn't feel like they just stall in the middle of the song, thankfully the beginning and end of the loops mostly make up for that. Real nice pick!

Zero Stage 2 does some fun stuff with its electric guitar, but the synths feel all over the place for me, leaving me very hit-or-miss with them. Decent song with a decent vibe, I just wish the sound hit harder for me.

My favorite thing about Zero Stage 2 is that for the bulk of MMX5's soundtrack it's hard rock, then completely out of the blue they just decided to throw in rave music for the final stage music
