But the other stuff. Some of it I resonate with. COVID lockdowns and the surplus of jobs that companies have made have made people more entitled. I think it's great that it's empowered people to not be taken advantage of employers and better negotiate their pay. But it's also made some naive and lazy people who do the bare minimum and skate by feel entitled to deserve things they haven't earned.

I think Gen Z and younger millennials have especially has taken it the worst. Not all of them of course by any means. Mostly because they have the least job experience and didn't grow up with the work mentality of older generations. They prioritize in mental health and a work life balance, which is great, but the entitled ones can't go expecting the same salary of seasoned veteran who has more skills, actually stays longer and does more than they do. This applies to everyone. Promotions for example aren't given cause you stayed for x amount of months. It's earned. You don't get promotions by doing the bare minimum.

Jesus ain't that the truth. I'm a millenial myself so I don't want to go with the whole "younger generation is lazier than the older ones", because we all have lazy people in every generation. Though I did notice a huge rise of severely unrealistic "entitlement" during and after COVID with the younger staff/applicants. Two extreme examples that I personally dealt with as a Senior manager at a CPA firm, one where I basically laughed and pulled a J.J.Jameson meme towards interviewee because of his outrageous demands on pay and benefits that only a executive level would ever get. The other was a junior accounting staff member that I had to fire because he was holding his work/projects hostage unless he got similar pay as I did even though he was severely under performing on basic tasks like AR and AP. Like I said, extreme examples but from my first 5 years as a senior manager I never saw this level of entitlement at such a high rate until 3 years ago. Granted, it's not all a bad thing and some changes happened at the Corporate level because of some feedback from our younger staff members. We recently added "24hrs of paid mental health time off" as a benefit that you could use with the only strings attached is that you can't use it during tax/busy season.

You dont get promotions for busting your ass either. You just get more work.

Exactly my point. There never is a promotion.

There's usually someone being hired outside the company, despite years of, "We have a policy of hiring within," and comments about someone just not willing to hustle hard enough for the promotion they were never going to get.

It's a bait and switch.

The problem with that is if unemployment is high, people will spend less and that will affect his bottom line too

They always seem to forget this. If the peasants don't have any money, they can't buy your shit.

There's been a systematic change where employees feel the employer is extremely lucky to have them, as opposed to the other way around.
Because you are, fuckface.

If all your serfs quit tomorrow, you'd be apocalyptic levels of screwed.

Thanks for the link. What this shitbird regrets is that the right wing noise machine has not yet succeeded in propagandizing everyone into being obedient wage-slaves for plutocrats like him.

I want to know where I can sell a piece if toast with avocado for 19 bucks.

Sounds like a goldmine if all the youngins are eating only that, setting aside the obvious caricature he wants to present.

The most annoying part of the "people don't want to work anymore" bullshit is like in terms of mental and physical fatigue I doubt his job is even that hard

I'm sure he worked hard to get there, but everyone I know who's been promoted to management positions get used to sitting on a chair, having meetings and going to conferences to network reeeally fast. They tell themselves they've earned it but quickly forget what it was like to get there.

High level decision making and having meetings I'm sure are important to a company, but it's whole different ballgame to someone who's either constantly dealing with customers or doing physical labour for hours on end

Who the fuck wouldn't want to do less of that?

As well as how things work store side.

Corporate where I work told us to stop doing a thing several times, each time we pointed out that we have had people tell us directly that they will stop giving us business if we do. Corp finally put their foot down about it so we had to spend a good month telling people that.

Unfortunately, sales are up so that's customers lost.

Its tricky to find the middle ground. On the one hand, not everyone lives to work. I dont want to have to work multiple jobs or crazy hours just to be able to afford a house. I should be able to go to my one job, 40 hours a week (though less hours would be ideal), and be able to just live my life without the constant worry of not having enough money.

But on the other hand, there are definitely people who are just straight up lazy who want to make millions doing literally nothing.
