And they came after sustained pressure on senators from grassroots groups, conservative activists and the leader of the state Republican Party who vowed retribution at the ballot box if Paxton was convicted.

These juries will be most likely the most vetted in history. Even the hint of not considering evidence will get them kicked out of the jury pool. So again, trial by jury is far different than removal votes, which are political.

I didn't say the Jury and the Senators are the same.

But you can vet people all you want, the prosecution only gets so many removals in the end. And you won't be able to remove someone solely because they are Republican. Some one can easily just never say or imply that they will not consider the evidence.

Let the FBI deal with him.

As someone who lives in Texas this was the expected result, there are way to many fools in this state who love the taste of corruption in their politicians, I feel sorta bad for those Paxton is definitely going to retaliate against for this as they now know the law will not protect them nor will their fellow republicans.

Just want to point out that if Trump gets back in office, Paxton is going to be his AG.
