Felt like something absurd so I'm reading Vampirella/Dejan Thoris which is basically vampires on Mars lol. This is in the John Carter universe, recognized the green tusked aliens.

Oh nice, I'm a big fan of Edgar Rice Burroughs. May have posted this in one of the earlier threads, but one neat interpretation was actually a newspaper strip by his son, John Coleman Burroughs

I've read around 100 pages of the Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea and it's been enjoyable so far, but it feels like it moves pretty fast. It's not a long book(300-ish pages I think?) though so maybe I'm just not used to the plot moving this fast after the last two I read were 1200 and 600+ pages respectively.

It's nice reading this much again. I thought I got a lot slower at reading through books after I got out of school but it doesn't feel like it anymore.

I am reading books by a guy named Tony Caldwell. He's a guy I like on YT who does FF6 Beyond Chaos videos but he does them with an overarching story. He's a creative dude. And his books are alright so far.

I'll post some more thoughts tomorrow
Book two (technically the third) has been really good. The current story, Grasscutter, is easily one of the most...not necessarily complex but involved comics I've read. Lots of set up and the various characters make a lot of moving pieces; just as a quick count there's like, twelve+ motivations going at once. Really awesome story so far, definitely a page-turner.
For being a simple familiar, Kitanamono's design was strong. I hope he makes a revival.

Just finished Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames and it was just fantastic. I was expecting a lot more grimdark, but it felt like the best of the MCU - quippy, more lighthearted, and a fun adventure with great characters.

If you want a good DND influenced story you can't go wrong with this, though I've heard more mixed things about the sequel.

I'm reading a bit of Space Bastards, kind of an over the top space courier service book, maybe a bit like Twisted Metal where people are trying to kill each other on the street to steal packages for delivery. It's nearly at Preacher levels of gory and vulgar at times, which I wasn't expecting, but it's still been pretty fun so far.

Im probably reading less than that, but Hobbs chapters are long. Still, last year I read a 1100 page book Im a week, so that I started a 900 page book on the 4th and am only about 40% through it is quite a slowdown.

They were written in the 1970s, by a veterinarian in the 1930s.

About halfway through Hero of Ages. Mistborn is pretty good overall but I don't like it as much as Stormlight. It's much more simple and a lot of the characters actually feel like prototypes for stormlight characters.

That's what made me give it a try the first time. The main characters dog is one of the best parts about the book too. I even managed to go to the Irish restaurant that was in it since the place is in Phoenix Arizona but the last I heard it has since closed down. Sad because their fish and chips were everything.

I am reading "The Accidental President". This book highlights the 4 months after FDR passed away and Truman took over.

I am listening to the audiobook of "To Kill a Mockingbird" read by Sissy Spacek. I read it in high school, but completely forgot all of it.

Do you find that you absorb/retain the audiobook as well as reading? I've tried a couple times and didn't find it as immersive. Tbh, it could have been attempted under better circumstances.

Mark Levin was a lawyer under Ed Meese in the Reagan administration, so yeah.

The books Levin's dad wrote are pretty great. The Crossing, and Malice Towards None, are books I'd definitely recommend. Not very "partisan" at all.
