Planet A Sends Help. Page 86. The novel has become Planet of the Apes. Although this novel was written in the year 1948, it foreshadows 1963's Planet of the Apes, without the political commentary, or the twist at the end

However, a spaceship is coming to rescue somebody. So the ending is going to be happier

Random check-in, been in a slump and haven't read much this month but still checking in on the topic and seeing what others are into.

Wife bought and read the first volume of Monstress and really liked it, so I may try it out soon.

Planet A Sends Help by Karl-Herbert Scheer. 26 pages remain in the novel. The conflict on Planet A has ended. However, there is still conflict on Planet Earth. This Chapter 13 details the United States of America's measures to defend itself. In the upcoming Chapter 14, the title of the novel manifests, and Planet A sends help.

Unfortunately, there is not going to be much character development of the protagonists. Half of the remaining character development is about the antagonists. That is too bad, because nobody wrote a sequel to this novel. In 26 pages, we shall never see these cool protagonists again

That is not say that the author did not write anymore novels. After this novel, he wrote "Pirates in between Mars and Earth" and "Focal point Venus." If you like this author, there is still plenty more to read

Planet A Sends Help. 22 pages remain in the novel. In Chapters 14 and 15, a scientist in the Arctic expresses concern that nuclear war threatens civilization. In Chapter 16, the final chapter, Planet A sends help

this theme foreshadows the author's later work in the Perry Rhodan series of the year 1961, in which somebody outside of Earth intervenes to prevent a war on Earth. In much of the science fiction of the mid-20th century, the authors wrote about the dangers of nuclear weapons, including Planet of the Apes

I finished Planet A Sends Help. The ending was not as utopian as I expected, as the author intended to write other novels with different characters. Many of the loose threads in the novel were not tied up by the ending. I believe that somebody should write an epilogue someday, but that is unlikely

I began In the Ghost Towns of Mercury, by German author Wolf Detlef Rohr. Written in the year 1953, this was the fourth novel by author Rohr. As the title suggests, somebody is going to travel to the Planet Mercury.

Three years after this novel was written, the author changed his mind about the Planet Mercury, and decided that it was too hot there for intelligent life.

I am on Page 6 of the novel, in which a reporter tries to enter a space rocket site. It reminds me of the author's previous novel, Invasion from the Cosmos, in which the novel begins with a reporter trying to get a story about outer space. The author correctly predicted that the human public would be greatly interested in space exploration

In the Ghost Towns of Mercury, by Wolf Rohr. The billionaire does not want the public to follow his space enterprise to the Planet Mercury. He has banned news reporters from entering the space rocket site.

On Page 7 of the novel, a reporter finds his way into the space rocket site anyway. It was not an easy task for him. He has a specific man that he wants to meet inside the base.

The previous novel that I read, Planet A Sends Help, had a first chapter that was 32 pages long. That was not cool. It should not take as many as 32 pages to establish the premise.

Fortunately, In the Ghost Towns of Mercury has a first chapter that ends at Page 11. I like that! What a sigh of relief

In the Ghost Towns of Mercury by Wolf Detlef Rohr. Page 23. The astronauts examine the Planet Mercury as they approach it

The author Rohr wrote a long series of novels about journeys to the planets of the Solar system, and this novel is the first in that series. The author Rohr was interested in planetary science, and what kind of extraterrestials might inhabit each planet. Personally, I'm not interested in planetary science, so this novel is not my cup of tea, but thankfully the author also writes good characters and plot developments, so I shall look upon this novel as a character piece

In the Ghost Towns of Mercury. Page 26. We have 9 pages of character development on the way to Planet Mercury, before the spaceship lands. Most of these characters are going to continue visiting planets for 8 more books, so it's cool that they bring different perspectives to space exploration. This is a relaxing section of the novel, before we land on Mercury, and encounter thrills

In the Ghost Towns of Mercury by Wolf Detlef Rohr. Page 29. The magnetic field of the Planet Mercury is stronger than expected. Because, as the title of the novel indicates, there are ghost towns on Mercury.

The astronauts did not expect to find ghost towns on Mercury, and the discoveries lead to scientific speculation, including the theory of panspermia -- that life spread across most of the planets
