Finished! That was great! I liked Garp, Koby, Helmeppo, and mother fuckin BOGARD being incorporated into the East Blue events.

Luffy should have been snacking on at least one fish when he emerged from the barrel its true.

18.5 million views in four days. Thats great! Not Stranger Things or Wednesday numbers but higher than The Witcher season 3 (and about equal to season 2), and twice what The Sandman did last year. Looking away from Netflix thats also better than Ahsokas debut. I believe this is the number 3 debut this year, narrowly behind Queen Charlotte at 2 and a little below The Night Agent at 1. The Sandman got renewed on a similar budget to One Piece so season 2 should now be nearly guaranteed. If you are wondering, this is about nine times Cowboy Bebops views.

However, it needs to show legs over the next four weeks, so lets hope it sees the expected bump in week two. I may watch it again to keep it up there haha.

I really just just hope the directing is improved. Not really a fan of how it's shot. Very jumpy with cuts sometimes. I also had this weird feeling that it was shot like they had a green screen behind them sometimes even though they clearly had really nice sets.

This being my biggest issue is a good thing though. Thought it would be trash top to bottom.

Yeah, I had this issue as well, especially with close-ups. The show looks mostly great but Netflix need to relax their shooting standards, the Netflix look was really obvious here.

Also digging in deeper to the numbers, the show virtually tied Queen Charlottes debut which then went into the top 10 all time for the first 28 days. So One Piece should end up with really impressive numbers if the word of mouth is as good as it seems.

I also feel similarly. Some of the shots were very odd.

I really think I might rewatch the show with those voices.

I'm especially excited about Buggy doing the new Biggy scenes.

I really hate watching foreign stuff with English dub, so I wouldn't imagine watching an English show with foreign dub would be good for me lol

I just watched the second episode. Feels they should've clarified the DF a bit more; I think learning that Luffy can be cut is important as it kinda takes away from the feeling of invincibility he has, and Buggy should feel some pain from getting punched for the same reason. Also a shame we didn't get the Buggy flashback, but I understand the episode was already pretty stuffed.

But a good episode nonetheless, just a shame that if this would ever make it to Impel Down, we won't get depressed Buggy.

They have a 6 season plan for live action One Piece

Not looking good for Igaram and Pell.

Igaram might be fine, since Robin isn't really evil so they might just cut that explosion. Might make it harder for new fans to accept her down the line if she actually kills a sympathetic character like Igaram. Pell can and should die though.

Sometimes I think even pell not dying is because he didn't want Robin to be complicit in a death.

Like Vivi gets to be happy that none of her people died so she's ok with Robin being in the crew.

I finished watching it the other night and as someone who has never seen any of the anime or manga, I thought it was absolutely fantastic. I went into with low expectations because the art style I had seen for One Piece has always put me off it.

All the characters are just so likable in their own way. Luffy in particular is just so endearing as this overwhelmingly positive force and genuinely good guy. His actor seemingly nailed the roll. The 'Luffy help me' scene was top notch and right in the feels, just perfect.

I think I only really have 2 complaints. What happened to Zoro's childhood rival is stupid (even more so after I googled what actually happened). Secondly the antagonists don't seem to suffer any repercussions for the things they do. You have Zoro straight up cutting people in half to start the show making you think 'Oh it's one of those shows' but then when it comes to people who are doing really shitty, heinous things there doesn't seem to be any actual consequences outside the ass whooping. Now maybe Luffy isn't the type to kill people but Arlong really gets to just disappear off screen after what he did?

I now also feel like I'm in the Arcane dilemma of where I really like what I've been shown and want more but there's no way of me delving further into the world without doing something undesirable. In Arcane's case it was play LoL (which I was never willing to do). In One Piece's case I'm going to have to stomach the really bad art style that hurts my soul in order to learn more? And like how DBZ did the Kai version, is there a version like that for One Piece? Or is it watch a shit ton of episodes or maybe go the manga route?

Oh also forgot to say, the music score was incredible

Arlong's fate: Arlonggets arrested by the marines (presumably Garp in this version). And let's just say that is a really bad fate for him.

It's fan made but One Pace. I've never tried it but I hear good things.

Personally, recommend the manga route.

Without a doubt the manga is the way to go for One Piece. The anime is not a good way to experience the story. The arts not GREAT but its mostly fine in the manga, I think the black and white helps.

One piece's art style can't hurt your soul if you didn't have one to begin with!

People complain about the anime's pacing but there really are very few issues with it until you get to about the 300s.

One Pace is fan-made, so the problem is that some of the cuts are VERY hard and they probably stick a little bit too much to the manga. TV/Anime and manga are different mediums, and letting the scene breathe a little is not something One Pace does, even when it's necessary (because in a manga, you as a reader can just decide when you let a scene breathe).

I only started reading the manga until about episode 300, and while the manga is great, not knowing Overtaken or the voice actors just has you missing out imo.

Yay season 2!! The live action was so good, really impressed with it

one pace is not the optimal viewing experience for sure, it's just the official version isn't either!

Gotta love how Oda knows Chopper is the big thing everyone is worried about when it comes to season 2

I also am in love with the Japanese voice actors for the Straw Hats. I'm looking forward to watching the Netflix show a second time with their dubbing.

I like the world

I think Luffy wants to be King of the Pirates, but he needs to say it a few dozen more times for me to fully get it

It's camp and a little cringey but just the right side of cringey that I can still enjoy it. Actors are clearly having a good time. Zoro being done with the lunacy is helping to balance stuff nicely. Some of the visual effects are pretty great, thanks Netflix budget

That's the one big thing the anime has over the manga. Obviously, scenes like Bink's Brew and Drums of Liberation are way better with the sound to back them up.

Been watching One Piece anime... very slowly.

Is the Alabasta arc beloved? Cause I'm not feelin' it. And it is friggin looooooooong.

Alabasta takes a little bit to get going but is pretty great imo yes.

There's some annoying filler in the middle when they go through the desert. If you watched those I'm sorry

I'm at the part where Crocodile arrives to stop them from blowing up the Palace. Usopp/Chopper won their match. Sanji won his match. And I think Nami is currently fighting. Can't remember if she won it or not, watched it last night, but the Sanji/Copy-Copy fight was just silly. I'm hoping the Luffy/Croc fight makes up for it.

Yeah if you aren't in to it by the fights the arc will probably just not be for you.

Well you got the best fights coming up, but still quite a few episodes.

This kind of length does become standard for one piece, but maybe their premises will be more interesting for you.

I mean, by that point you've had Ace, Vivi's argument with Luffy, Toto's loyalty, Chopper/Sanji/Vivi saving the day at Rain Dinners, Smoker getting saved, Luffy v Crocodile 1, Carue being best boi, and UsoCho vs Mr 4 duo...Don't really know what you feel like you're missing?

I loved everything before this, I'll just chalk it up to me not being a fan of Mr. 2.

Though strangely enough, I'll be looking forward to it in the live-action to see how cringe it can be.
