Like I said, definitely closer than the Alolan finals but Moltres takes it! This time I'm including the # of savers for each and oh wow it was only a difference of 1 person, although still in Moltres's favour. About ~4.5 saves per Moltres saver, 3.9 per Sirfetch'd. If Sirfetch'ds pushed to 5 savers per saver, just a little more than Moltres, it could've taken it!

As for discussion, don't really have much thoughts myself this time. One thing I am thinking to change is maybe have bot announce the exact start time if that's not really such a significant deal, at least for these short delays between each round. Maybe if these were like 18 hour schedulings between rounds the fuzziness would make sense but I don't really think so here.

Next up Hisuians!... Which I gotta make sure I get the complete pool right because I haven't actually finished Legends myself

I dont think the somewhat loose start times are really an issue, especially since most manually-run save mys have wildly differing start times from day to day, but thats just my thoughts. Im fine with whatever you go with.

oh i was thinking of keeping it loose but just display the exact time as bot marks it down instead of just saying "30 minutes +/- 10"

and leaning towards yes also because even as a test to see how many people actually start leaping on those transparent start times

although I suppose the variability makes less sense when transparent

Both surprised and not surprised that moltres won despite it not having a reliable base behind it

I would like to make the argument that TPC considers White-Stripe Basculin, and more importantly, Basculegion to be Hisuian regional variants.

The evidence is in the TCG! All regional form cards are labeled with their region. See:

Granted, literally no one on Earth cares about Basculin and it will be the obvious first boot if included, but Basculegion is awesome and I want him.

Yeah, I'd count Basculegion but not Wyrdeer, Kleavor, Ursaluna, and Enamorus.

And unfortunately, Dudunsparce shouldn't count for Paldea since it's not actually a regional evolution. It should just be Tauros, Wooper, and Clodsire if we're going by the same standards as this one. Though I wouldn't be opposed to adding the Paradox mons like someone mentioned earlier.

Sirfetch'd and Perrserker evolve from regional forms of old Pokemon. Wyrdeer, Kleavor, and Ursaluna are just straight up new evolutions of old Pokemon. It's not like you can get Sirfetch'd or Mr. Rime from the Kantonian forms of their pre-evolutions.

I lean towards including them anyway. More targets for Hisuian Decidueye to shoot down, pew pew!!

Yeah, but those still have the same name as their counterparts. Like if Kleavor was just Hisuian Scizor I'd say it counts, but not since it's a whole new thing.

I guess you could argue Kleavor is more like Scizor, which is not considered a regional variant. It just seems like one because Hisui feels very isolated

There is still an argument that Game Freak thinks of Ursaluna/Kleavor/Wyrdeer as regional evolutions, judging by the fact they aren't letting Ursaring/Scyther/Stantler evolve into them in S/V, despite being able to transfer them in.

There's logic for leaving them out, but also I'd support 2/3 of them so I certainly wouldn't mind if they're in.

when it comes down to it we have Regional Variants that evolve from Kanto forms, we have Regional Variants who evolved into newly named pokemon, so doing both isn't much of a concern

although I'll admit Dudunsparce didn't even cross my mind even after VI's been mentioning it, I just thought he's a big fan of the pokemon and it had nothing to do with the contest lol. Of the cross-gen evos in S/V we got Clodsire, Annihilape, Dudunsparce, Farigiraf, and Kingambit and Clodsire's really the only "regional variant" evolution... *shrug*

it's absolutely a fair question and I think it gets even harder with Paldea, but in regards to Hisuian ones I think it makes the decision easier that the game literally doesn't add a single actual new Pokemon so it's not like those few Pokemon are making any other list and it really feels like they're just remixes of the old just like every other regional form

it would be funny but also a complete waste of time to do paldea if it's literally just 3 tauros, wooper, and clodsire

I've at least made the decision Paradox Pokemon would be included so that's a decent sized bunch

so the only ones that are a question is Annihilape, Dudunsparce, Farigiraf, and Kingambit who are really just new evos like Magmortar/Electivire in gen 4 - which to Mewtwo's point is what Kleavor & the gang are

You've only mentioned the Paradoxes, but I imagine you'll also include the Wigletts and such?

Also I can't believe there's gonna be at least 20 Paradoxes when the DLC is finished.

That's pretty solid reasoning to let them in imo

Since Scyther can evolve into Scizor in SV but not Kleavor

Also Hisui did add a brand new legendary to the post game, though it is related to some past legendaries.

I totally forgot Hisuian Qwilfish was a thing and thought it evolved from regular Qwilfish

this is excellent news because Overqwil is amazing and has a top 10 Pokmon name

think I got all the database / settings prep done, rules are unchanged. we had a couple fast rounds towards the end from increased activity, but also getting some people with burnout potentially dropping.... I think most the contest better off just staying the same and I think we'd only have a couple 2-hour rounds anyways

although wait I'm realizing entrants is 26 instead of 25 so I do have some tweaking to do urgh

I didn't know Overqwil had a Q on its tail, that drops it a bit for me. Probs won't participate in this one as I think the Hisui set is rather weak, but you never know. At least Enamorus won't be there.
