Yeah it is definitely not the same thing as a Switch or a Steamdeck so I'm not sure how much of a market there is going to be for it. Not saying there won't be one, just saying it doesn't fit the same niche as a dedicated handheld.

I have a switch but even without that I don't see how it could benefit me. I have my own dedicated TV for gaming so have no danger of the screen been in use.

it needs a PS5, it has the same battery as the regular PS5 controller, so 1400mah, and even then it only lasts a few hours as just the controller. now you got a screen.

it also doesn't even have Bluetooth, so you have to spend another $200 for the compatible headphones if you want audio that isn't shit and blasting to everyone

it doesn't have wifi so you cannot do literally anything on it if you don't have a PS5

it's dead on arrival.

Congratulations Sony, your transformation into bizarro Nintendo is almost complete. All you need to do is invent a VR headset that only does black and white, causes massive headaches, and charge $699 for it.

Eh, it occasionally came in handy if you had to share the TV. That was a pretty niche use, though, and for a lot of people it had zero application whatsoever. This also lacks any of the interesting asymmetrical gameplay options the gamepad opened up (which were sorely underused, but so was the whole system) and is only that niche off-TV play gimmick.

If you could hack it and do something interesting with it then that'd be fun but seeing as it's ONLY meant as a Remote Play device it probably has no way to introduce storage that would make hacking it worthwhile anyway.
