Who cares if its weird for morning to be 5PM somewhere. Time zones are dumb and DST is especially dumb

Because it would screw with most peoples biological clocks.

I dont believe so. If you ask farmers in DST and non-DST areas, they just get up with the sun and dont really care what the time is

I will say that I wish we abolish daylight savings time or have it permanent.

How so? You would obviously set your alarm for whatever time made sense for your schedule.

No it wouldn't, you would just change the time you get up and go to sleep.

What's the benefit? It's much easier to put together "it's 3am in India right now, so they are sleeping," instead of "well it's light in America so it's probably dark in India, so they are maybe asleep."

The benefit is that we no longer need to use the IANA time zone database when calculating past date/times, and future date/times become more reliable. Right now there are hundreds of time zones, each with a unique history (necessary for past date/times) and subject to change (making future date/times a guess).

Farmers only need day and night to tell them when to start/stop working.

We're all already used to a 12hr clock that resets in the middle of the day, which is stupid.

No, it means people in one region might begin a standard workday at 10:00 UTC and others might start a work day at 16:00 UTC

Because for some reason people are REALLY attached to 6:00am being sunrise or whatever. I truly could not give a fuck what time corresponds to night and day; it's all arbitrary.

Americans are already bad at math, and reject the metric system. Good luck making them learn something that will make them change their thought patterns.

I see absolutely no benefit to this that would out weigh the bad.

I checked, and yes. It was Steelbeak from Darkwing Duck.

People are more concerned about what's happening locally, than worldwide.

But, now that the world is more interconnected, this might be something to work towards.

Eventually we will also have speedy personal travel where local time isn't as important.

I assure you those systems are using UTC internally, and having to convert to local time is a major pain for software developers.
For example, you can't assume that midnight exists on every date at every location.

This sounds like when people insist an alternate keyboard layout they recently started using is so much better than the default.

Or video game developers who insist on using some gimmicky gyro bullshit control scheme to try and replace buttons despite their alternative being so much worse.

Cant we just leave things alone when they work fine?

Everything that matters is already using UTC just like everything/everyone who matters always does measurements in metric

The current setup allows us to have a shared language about the time of day. When I say "6 in the morning," everyone knows exactly what I mean.

I remember that episode! Except he did it by jamming a big space rocket in some big rock colums and launching it westward, to stop the world from rotating. Half the planet froze and the other half became pretty hot.
Also, due to some electrical snafu, Darkwing and Launchpad accidentally switched bodies with Gosalyn and Honker.

On-topic: I honestly see no downside to this idea other than people thinking "it's weird", but they'd get over it. However I don't think it'll happen in our lifetime, as governments can't even agree on getting rid of daylight savings.

This will solve nothing.
Now you will think "that place is 6 hour before us".
Change it, and you will still have to look up that they are 6 hours before you.
