I haven't been following these, but I was waiting to see when one of my favorite games showed up. That was painful to watch him play Life Force. He kept ignoring Speed, and then proceeded to get bodied because he was too slow. And he kept falling for all the same traps over and over. Surprised he briefly put it in the Top 10 with how much he was shitting on it.

I haven't been following this, but when one video says "Is Athena the worst NES game?" my reaction is, "Uh, but have you heard of Deadly Towers?" And now Deadly Towers in the next video.

Deadly Towers is not the worst NES game

There might be worse, but DT is pretty f'ing atrocious. It's also renowned for being a bad game, so if you asked people what the worst NES game is, you'd get that as a response from a lot of people...but I actually played it back in the 80s. And it's kinda the worst sort of bad because it looks like it had promise -- indeed there's a lot to the game if you watch a speedrun -- but there's so much that's designed to be punishing to the player and there's so much that is just bad because of poor design choices, and to me that's worse than a game that's just glitchy because the game that's immediately and obviously bad is going to chase you off right away. Deadly Towers gives you a fake glimmer of hope that it might, in some way, be competent, and then it just gradually disappoints (or more likely frustrates and enrages) you at every turn.

there's some truly horrible stuff out there that's just too obscure to build up that reputation

Very curious about what he has to say on Friday the 13th. I've found that an overwhelming majority of people end up liking the game once they understand how it works, but since the game explains nothing and it's pretty complicated it gets shat on all the time.

If there's 822 including unlicensed, I still have a bit to go to get to half. Currently at 398.

I dont think Jeff is questioning whether N64 games were actually good or not, I bet hed say theres less than 10 good N64 exclusives. Thats what brought this whole thing about in the first place was him trying to figure out what was nostalgia and what wasnt

Theres fewer than a thousand, so its totally doable for a guy whose job is to play video games online.

and theyre mostly not like super substantial games. You play half an hour of them and move on.

Jeff did say there are some unlicensed hell look at, like the Tengen stuff for sure, probably a Wisdom Tree or two. But beyond that theres not much value there other than novelty/comedy anyway. Magic Kid Googoo is alright I guess

I too was shocked by how messed up this version of Toobin was. Like yeah the button layout kinda has to be messed up due to the way the NES controller is but they couldve done better than that
