The kid who got pulled out in the beginning is pretty bad but yes the spiders were probably the worst way to go.

Yeah, Bone Tomahawk's groin chop method was more effective imo than Terrifier's chainsaw method. It all depends what you're looking for in horror, though.

I'm talking about the girl who got murdered in her own bedroom. Spoilers and big time trigger warning for a graphic fictional murder in a movie:

I forget exactly what happens, but something like this: clown chases her to her bedroom, and gets her face down and just starts slicing and dicing her back, cutting off skin. Then he slices her face, taking out one eye in the process. Then he splits apart the fingers of one hand, ruining it, then he literally rips off her other arm. Then he scalps her, leaving her bloody skull exposed. He finally leaves the bedroom, and the girl is still alive, and struggles to her phone, where I think her friend is calling. Then at the very last moment, the clown busts back in with a jug of salt in one hand and a jug of bleach in the other, and pours it all over the girl's wounds. Later on in the movie, the girl's mom comes home, goes up to her bedroom, and finds the clown just chilling with her daughter's mutilated and fucked up dead body. But then bam, and the girl breaths, because she's still alive. Mom's death is off screen, but later on trick or treaters ring their door bell, the clown answers and gives them candy out of the hallowed out head of the mother and everyone is all smiling and laughing.

Yep, one of it's more graphic scenes in a very graphic movie. Both that and the sequel have some rather "creative" deaths.

I think thats debatable. I think Kings story ends it another way but he's said before he wish he would have ended it like the movie. I see it as a tradegy. I think if they had stayed in the store they would have been rescued.

They couldnt stay in the store because the religious zealot had whipped the people there into righteous, fearful bloodlust and was about to have the boy sacrificed.

While they did shoot her there was no guarantee the mob, previously ready to sacrifice a child, wouldnt have had someone else step up to direct them or wouldnt retaliate for killing their prophet.

Thats part of why I dislike the movie ending as it takes the focus off of movie showing the ease in which a group can degrade with dire circumstances.

We don't even know if the people in the store survived. We only see the mother who left to look for her kids early in the movie was picked up by the military, along with her kids

I think the sheer numbers advantage and placement directly after the shooting left them with little hope of that. I concede its possible.

Plot-wise I think outside even being considered an equal option noted just how bad things had broken down by then.

Honestly, the bigger part of why I dislike it is it overshadowing the choice made by the group in the car. The ending was already dark with what preceded the mist clearing.

Suicide is so rarely treated as anything but quitting if not cowardly in a bleak movie despite the horrors throughout. In this movie, it was arguably justifiable.

Just personally, Id have liked the MC just opening the door and wandering into the mist until all that remains of the shot was mist.

I dont think that ending they went with was bad ftr.

The ending is crap because in the span of nearly 60 seconds the car runs out of fuel, dude kills everyone then oh damn the military are here guess I was a bit hasty

As if you'd turn the gun on people the second the car stopped like he did. You'd at least wait til the monster's were attacking again

The ending to The Mist was awesome.
Not everything needs a happy ending.
Now he has to live with what he did.

The only real problem with the ending is the movie makes it seem like they didn't wait very long before they started pulling the trigger. It was like the car ran out of gas and he just starts going for headshots. They could have made it seem like they waited a bit beforehand but they didn't.

Other than that, great ending

I think that's why we see the woman from the beginning in the truck. She held out hope that her kids were alive and that she could make it to them, and she survived. She didn't give up, and she was one of the first to be rescued by the military.
