I once posted in a topic here where someone asked if you would rather have a son or a daughter for a kid, and I said i'd rather have a daughter because I would relate to her more... and then here comes P2E to single me out and tell me that I could never relate to her more than a son, because he knew that I was trans.

And that's just one instance. He did it numerous times in numerous places.

He wasn't unique in that regard unfortunately. Until very recently "transwomen are women" was a controversial statement that would get people to attack you on here.

Just weird to see people in here who will normally jump at any chance to call someone a transphobe come in here to reminisce and defend a guy who was a literal, unapologetic transphobe. He didn't try to talk around it, or frame it as another issue.

Dude straight up did not like transpeople and would harass trans users.

Personally, I don't think dying suddenly makes someone who was an unapologetic bigot up until that point suddenly a misunderstood, swell guy. But that's me.

Up until recently it was not really controversial anywhere to say things about trans people that will now get you banned here. They only started cracking down on it because it's become a faux pas in general polite society (rightly, of course)

Despite what people in this topic are saying, if he hadn't killed himself he likely would have been banned along with people like Caution and Admiral and people would still be talking about what a piece of shit he was along with the rest of them.

This isn't even the first topic I've seen made about him. It's wild to me.

I'm glad you mentioned Prelude2Entropy, actually.

He was the quintessential CEman. Argumentative, petty, belligerent, smarmy and always trying to slam dunk on others. And then he killed himself.

When other CEman today act that way (whatever their position or beliefs), there's a little voice in my head that thinks, "are you ok? Like really, are you ok? Because you are very upset and this is just a message board".

I can think of a few users like that and really they would be better off leaving and doing something else.

I don't normally shit on users, especially ones who can't defend themselves, but seeing this guy propped up as some misunderstood, deep down great guy who was just a victim of toxic masculinity is a bit much.

I get it, and that's fair, but ask yourself if he would have been as willing to help you if you had been a transperson. Maybe he would have, but I doubt it.

I'm sure a lot of KKK members are perfectly nice and willing to help out their fellow man too. As long as that fellow man is white and straight.

Yeah, people (especially on CE and certain other internet bubbles) have an impossible time empathizing with people they disagree with ideologically so they tend to miss what I consider pretty damn obvious signs that a person is having a hard time in life and just demonize them and try to unperson them however they can.

I just switch to flippant mode when people act like that to me, it's too cringe to engage with seriously and they're already clearly doing worse than me so why kick them while they're down, ya know.

I was just thinking about this guy. Didn't remember the name, but this is definitely the guy.

At the time of his death, I was very much a hardass. I made a point to mention every shitty grievance I had with him. To this day, I'll defend that - one day I'm gonna die, and I want people to speak their minds whether it be positive or negative. But I'm pretty sure he was in with the CEchat crowd, and after making friends with bokchoi, who I HATED when I first joined CE, maybe there was more to him than I gave credit to at the time.

I don't think he should have killed himself. I understand how he would have thought that was the only way out, sometimes anger and shame become so internalized over the course of a lifetime that one big thing happens and you decide that this, right now, is the reason why you should die. I make a point not to judge suicide because I understand the lengths it takes to get a person to that point. Even if it was over a stripper he cheated with before she moved on and cheated on him, I'm very sad that he decided to kill himself. He didn't deserve that.

I know for a fact that I'd be fucked off every day I saw Prelude post on CE. But then again, I didn't post on CE for like six months recently - and it's much more important that he be alive than dead. I don't remember every point I made about him that pissed me off, but I stand by what I said and how I approached it - and I still think he shouldn't have died. Poor fella.

It's gotten so much worse over the years too. However much people slam on 4chan/b or old school gamefaqs culture of the past, at least those guys had a sense of irony. These days on message boards like these people go from 0-100 lightning quick as soon as they think someone is outing themselves and really just throw any person and any disagreement straight into the deplorables bin.

Yeah I get it, your time is limited and you don't have the energy to "reach common ground" with every person you disagree with. But to that token, don't get into shitfights on the internet in the first place.

Prelude2Entropy? I remember having some shitty arguments with him and thinking he was a trash person. Him offing himself made me reconsider how to engage with people here.
