Country for Democrats and the country for the Republicans. I think it would solve most of the issues when it comes to the polarization of politics. Tell me why this isn't a good idea?

It'll be too segmented.

It was separate before the Civil War. Anyone alive then to tell us how that was?

Because the entire country is completed intertwined

The population of the country don't want that

Tens upon tens of millions of people would have to relocate if this were a thing and most people aren't even all that concerned about the polarization, and many of them aren't politically engaged at all.

Because:

A) The point of fascism is to expand its control as far as possible

B) Red states would literally be 3rd world shitholes without the resources provided by blue states, and Republican politicians know this. They have to tow the line between demonizing red states while also sucking off their teat

But we wouldnt be the United States. :(

The country isnt evenly split. Big cities tend to lean left, the rest of the country tends to lean right. So a geographic split isnt feasible.

It would hurt local and state economies pretty badly.

Most people arent that invested in politics to begin with.

I have a lot of reasons why splintering the Union would be a terrible idea. The splintering would doom us all to a darker future than maintining and fighting to improve it - towards a more perfect one.

Because the issue with conservatives/republicans is that they want to bring back slavery and are following in the footsteps of nazi germany. Simply allowing them to do so is atrocious
Also the conservative states would simply collapse since they arent capable of running themselves

You already have one side who likes their guns and feel like everything they are doing is in benefit to a higher power. Dividing the nation now would give that side a (easy) target.

Not even mentioning the mass exodus of people who would then have to move, and trying to migrate safely. Decent folks would be losing their properties, or getting them annexed since the new division would mean newer laws.

The idea that you can just send all the people who think this way to one place, and all the people who think that way to another place, and it will somehow stay that way and everyone lives happily after seems like an incredibly naive way of thinking honestly

with a few caveats.

1- Washington pays for anyone to relocate.
2- Republicanism is banned in the 49 states. anyone who has ever been registered to vote as a republican cannot vote for 20 years (from the end of the most recent registration), and can never hold for office. feel free to move to Texas (which Austin can pay for if they want, Washington will not)
3- build the wall! between the 49 and Texas. Mexico can and should build one, too.
4- The Texas National Guard can continue to exist, but all American Military assets will be removed from Texas.

We can relocate people. It will save everyone time and money in the long haul.

It's impossible to do. That means democrats living in red states will have to move to a blue state. Same for republican and alot of people are either incapable of moving or flat out refuse to.

Also this can easily start a war. Republican are already foaming at the mouth to kill off democrats, LGBT, and everything even slightly woke.

This is objectively false. Red states are constantly bailed out by blue states as they receive the most federal aid.

Blue states would be better off.

Are you being willfully obtuse? Nation states do not become stronger by losing land and population. The exact opposite happens, actually.

There are states that are barely able to get by without the federal government. They'd end up substituting Washington, DC for the UN Development Programme.

California alone is the world's fifth largest economy as of 2022.

One single state in a nation of 50 has a better economy than 191 countries -- and if it split off from the US, it's a fair bet that it would outpace 192 countries.

The fact that this is something so hard to do, highlights the issue . Republicans have done nothing but hurt people. Them being a part of the country hurts people, it literally kills people. So yeah we need to be a part.

But what would happen to all those concerned centrists and both sides-ers?
