The USA needs to remain united and strong. Who else is going to lead the world? China?

Because not everyone in red states is a Republican? Texas voted 44% Democrat in November. It actually has more registered Democrats than registered Republicans.

What is the contribution of those who govern Republican States, or represent Republican voters?

How are they making life better for those they serve?

Texas isn't the backwards wasteland some people think it is. The cities are blue. Dallas had a lesbian sheriff, and Houston had a lesbian mayor.

You'll note that I haven't advocated for a split. In fact in my original post back at the start of the topic I said specifically that splitting the country isn't feasible. So you are yelling at a strawman there.

The problem is that our current path isn't feasible either, with GOP actively holding back all progress forward in this country. I don't have a solution, there isn't an easy one, but you don't have to know how to some to know that it's deeply and fundamentally broken as it is.

Because the difference is that it's not a clear border anymore with a North and South. It's dozens of pockets of blue in reds and red in blues.

How? They don't have the house (and haven't had a veto proof majority in the senate for decades) so the federal route is a non starter. In the problematic states, they're generally not in office in sufficient numbers to stop these voter suppression bills. A constitutional amendment is obviously out of the question, as is trying to get the courts to strike down these bills.

texas is absolutely a backwater shithole due to the gop controlled government. the cities range from ok to great but the majority republicans in the state make it a shithole like every other red state.

80something percent of Texans live in urban areas. It's just that the government makes it as hard for the people in cities to vote as possible.

I'm sorry you want to throw millions of decent people, many of whom are POC or LGBTQ+ people, under the bus because you don't like the politics in certain states.

calling out texas as the shithole state it is isn't throwing anyone under the bus aside from the people that vote gop or don't vote. it is one of the worst states along with florida as far as ultra right wing governments go.
