I mean sometimes key players don't show up, but I would say a character with high stats going down earlier than usual is mildly spicy at worst.

Zidane would definitely be spicy though

Sometimes strong characters almost going out can create rebound effects so it's not like rocky performances always lead to a early eliminations. That's why we play the games.

Most champions dip after they win. It's almost inevitable because people tend to move on to helping other priorities win. You need to have at least one person who's dedicated and reliable to help a former champ stay steady (like Cecil has in lefty).

As someone who has been here since CI, Kuja going out anywhere before the top 25 will always be top of the Scoville scale to me.

Most former champions aren't particularly spicy elims at this juncture either. Vivi Lightning and Cecil are the only ones I can think of that would be "whoa"

Like this is mildly spicy and that's about it.

This elimination became obvious about 30 rounds ago and stopped being spicy enough to mention about 15 ago.

Lets not forget very high spice Squall. Hes been performing insanely well for a lot of contests

At THIS stage of the contest, I would say the big "spicy" eliminations are as follows:

Cecil Harvey
Celes Chere
Aerith Gainesborough
Barret Wallace
Tifa Lockheart
Squall Leonhart
Vivi Ornitier
Lightning
Delita Hyral
Ramza Beoulve

Big name characters that have shown genuine strength in the past, and have been in limited danger throughout this contest thus far (aside from a few hiccups in the case of Celes, Squall and Vivi).

That being said, even though he had no primary supporter (who makes rounds regularly), Tidus is still somewhat spicy, given how up until this round, he was almost always guaranteed survival due to 3 or 4 people willing to have his back when the chips were down. Even this round required Junk/MZero to miss it, and Cloud to be in danger to force Leon's hand, AND Andy being asleep for the second hour.

Ramza and Delita I would imagine as very little other than a honey bbq level of spice

putting them up there you might as well put Seymour Guado there

They're a champion and runner-up, respectively. They've been extremely strong these past few years.

well its more just commentary that people who would be very strong in both the leftystats and new stats era are being left out here (Rikku, Seymour, Zidane, Garnet, etc) like Seymour has finished ahead of Ramza every year apart from last year.

that said I guess being usually above the Layle line is a sign of strength

Wait, he didn't? I thought I saw on Martin's list of every contest characters that Kuja got booted once, even if it was just a soft boot. I guess I misread it.

What's interesting is, of the 10 new characters introduced in contest II:
-1 immediate winner (Lulu)
-3 future winners (Kuja, Kefka, Gilgamesh)
-2 more longstanding contest legends per above chart (Garnet, Laguna)

....and then Shadow, Golbez, Irvine and Barret rounding out the rest

This year, probably Tifa, but I wouldn't bet on any of them.

Ever, Tifa or Rikku. I don't think Terra ever will. Seph or Locke maybe could if the circumstances were right.

I don't recall Barbariccia ever doing anything, she was easily the most boring of the 4 fiends imo. Maybe she's more interesting in the other versions, I've only played the DS one. And I can't even remember anyone named Baigan >_>

She has the magus sisters as minions, and they were the most difficult fight of my childhood. Also she can turn into a tornado.

They ARE. Porom is SOLIDLY in the "this character sucks" tier, whereas everything in the Edward to FuSoYa range is more "meh". But I'm not going to try and remember every NPC just to list them in the "meh" range.
