Seems like you have cause and effect in reverse. The academic system is only really suited for the latter. Artificial demand and student pressure drive the incentives of the admin to cater to the former.

What does "trust/confidence in higher education" even mean? Like, are we trusting them to provide good/accurate education? Are we trusting them to not rip us off? Are we trusting them to actually be a worthwhile investment toward getting our feet in the door later? What exactly are we talking about here?

These figures seem useless/inconclusive when attached to such a vague inquiry.

Who cares about education when a woman literally became a billionaire from a sex tape? What kinda message does that send to the rest of the 300 million citizens?

Or when a literal ratchety 16 year old girl got famous off a viral meme catchphrase in "Dr" Phil show and became a millionaire?

How exactly do you convince people to pursue the debt causing higher education after coming out of the constantly underfunded public education? When sports and kicking a lemon ball around is more valued than the sciences?
