Double digit interest rates are for credit cards, not student loans.

There's no earthly reason why someone today or even 20 years ago couldn't get 8% or below.

1. Tuition prices are way above what's needed.
2. Textbooks are outrageously expensive and often mandatory.
3. There's no guarantee of a job after graduation.
You are getting a loan to pay for artificially jacked prices and then graduation doesn't actually mean you're prepared to work in the field you studied.

My wife and I aren't either. I know several others who aren't.

We're not talking about hypotheticals. We're talking about something objectively bad happening now to millions of people. Any potential fallout from this lies solely at the feet of the corrupt justices and those who installed them. Stop making fucking excuses for them.

I guess I dont understand how that would avoid garnishments. That is when your employer withholds part of your paycheck. Its not related to paying taxes.

So I read an article and apparently Biden's IDR reform hasn't been killed, however, republicans are planning to bring a suit against that so it's only a matter of time before that is killed as well.

If you make under a certain amount, the government itself sets your payment at little to nothing based on income. Our payment per month is currently $0 because of household income and size. If we start making more money, we will simply divorce and claim single income. Our payment will remain $0. Now that doesn't stop interest, but at this point, it's only a matter of time until debt forgiveness and total collapse, so who really cares?

Obligations stop being obligations when it comes clear how predatory they are.

If it was a 27% interest rate, that would be one thing. I don't think that's the case though.

I don't understand why people just have no interest in hardship, claims or forbearance letters. Use the tools at your disposal.

He is helping everyone. Some people are just getting more help than others. Student loan forgiveness helps even people who have repaid their loans.

You've got to set the foundation before moving forward in a needs-based environment like this.

Deal with the people who actively have loans, then use that systemic framework to address helping people who paid them.

Getting pissed and flipping the table because the first stage of a multi-stage plan doesn't help you means nobody gets helped.
