Sony's Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse contained a multitude of Easter Eggs and cameos that eagle-eyed fans have been sure to point out. Still, there was a bigger secret that's now just being discovered: There are actually different versions of the film.
There are a few scenes that have different versions, and slightly changed dialog. One is Oscar Isaac's Spider-Man 2099 interacting with his assistant Lyla. In one, she points at Miguel; in the other, she takes a selfie with a bunny filter. Another is with the Spot's flashback before he uses his collider and some dialog changes. First spotted by @balisonqs on Twitter, check out the former scene below with the differences.

Other viewers on social media have popped up with more claims about tweaked scenes, including variations in moments with Vulture, and Spider-Punk. The best part is when the film's associate editor, Andy Leviton, confirmed on his own Twitter, "I was wondering when people might start noticing"
It's unclear if all versions were released simultaneously or if, when the audio-enhanced version was switched out, it was a secret way to send out those other versions as well. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse had a huge opening weekend and went on to earn more than $500 million worldwide. That's $100 million more than Into the Spider-Verse. With these new discoveries, there might be a reason to buy another ticket, as there are likely more changes between the two known versions of the film.

Same I was fucking floored NOTHING WAS RESOLVED. I loved the movie throughout but there was absolutely no resolution - at least in IW and even empire, the bad guys won. This just stopped.
In the theater I said "what the fuck was that" out loud - I haven't been disappointed like that since the end of Halo 2

neat. if the editing can be automated, this could be used to essentially serialize a movie. even just 15 differences should be enough to make every theater copy unique. i know there's printing tech out there these days that can do something like that on the fly. it's probably not too much of a leap to get it to work pressing discs.

There's a sadness in my heart for people freaking out because they realize they missed three seconds of the film because it was in a different version.

It's not major changes or an alternate ending. It's literally slight changes in small amounts of dialogue or shots.

And for those complaining it'll be "a thing" going forwards, it won't. It's already been said in this topic but Clue already tried it.

You realize going to see a movie in the theater is a service, not a product, right? You aren't being sold a copy of the film. You're being sold the experience of watching it once. Even for a normal movie, that experience won't be the same one you have if you were to go again, as the audience would be different.

And I guarantee the home release will have every version all in one. Swapping the scenes around with a menu option is trivial with digital media.

I'd just assume that they'd use a mix of scene variations and line changes to clamp down specifically on which movie theatres leaks out recordings while claiming it's "thematic" to the alternate universe angle.

so say if there's an area code or common theatres showing the movie, maybe they'd use 2-3 key things to denote the chain, then changes/omissions to squeal it down even further. or just a canary trap https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canary_trap
