The Titanic disaster was pretty infamously a disaster because they only had enough lifeboats for the rich people. Nearly every corpse down there was an impoverished regular person who didn't deserve it. The skew in the published lists of survivors was so damning that the entire shipping industry was reformed immediately afterwards.
