I can't wait to hear those menu sound effects again and feel an emotion other than depression.

Hell yeah. One of my favorite games of all time. I hope it'll be on more than just Switch and a Sony console this time, too, since I'd love to have it on PC.

I still prefer 3 (i loved the plot twist dont @ me) but 2 is still really really really fucking good. Rena was my main in Star Ocean Anamnesis lol

Is the PSP version the current definitive one? I played it for an hour or two last night. Feels like there's no rhyme or reason as to whether I hit the enemy first or they hit me first, though I'm getting hit less as I level.

It's hit-or-miss, it has some improvements over the PSX version but

I'm definitely looking forward to this. New character art, new graphics, new soundtrack, and enhanced combat. Seems like they kept the PSP voices, though, which I'm fine with. If I had to nitpick, I would've wished for them to enhance the character sprites, as they seem to be untouched and stick out a bit compared to everything else in the world.

All in all, it's a lot more than I was expecting, so I'm really happy.

I enjoyed 3 on PS2. I even defeated all of the special bosses in the game. And even though the final special boss had 20 Million HP, it wasn't really all that bad with the proper stats and equipment.

Maybe I'll give this remake of S02 a look.

Finally they release the best star ocean. Valkyrie Profile, now Star Ocean. C'mon Tri-Ace. Give us Radiata Stories on modern console! All 8 of us who liked it would appreciate it greatly.

That's pretty wild if it actually means they had the original cast all come back, which it sounds like is the case. I wonder how much they've improved in the last 25 years... fingers crossed, and really neat, either way. Sounds like they're just porting in the PSP version's audio as an option, as well, which lines up with what I heard in the trailer (I played both versions religiously).

Anyway, I deleted my last long winded post, but what it boiled down to was that the SE store notes that the soundtrack is going to be available separately, which is all I wanted from the CE, so I'm 100% happy now. Can't wait for November.

That was my first thought, since they seem to take voice acting more seriously over there; that, and I would be surprised if the old English VAs were all still in the industry (if they ever did much more at all). Guess I should look them up later.

Update: just looked up Claude's voice actor and the only credit I found for them (at least on the Behind the Voice Actors site) was Star Ocean. Like I said, that doesn't surprise me if it's true (and why I was so surprised to hear that the old cast had returrned). Looks like I'll be waiting for more info to release.

That was always my impression. It was kinda charming in a cheesy, low-budget kind of way, but I definitely didn't complain about the PSP redub. This makes me wonder if the JP version is the only one that'll have more than one voice track option, though, and us Westerners will be stuck with just the PSP cast (again, not terrible, but more options are always nice).

I actually like the original SO2 dub better than the SO3 dub. SO2 is so bad it's good, while SO3 is just bad.

I'd be fine with them just reusing the original English voices for battle only and leaving story dialogue silent if it means they have an option to use the original voices.
