Also just played Conquest a few times. It's god damn brutal. You're always against a strong meta deck since there is no mystery factor. And the locations totally wreck you. I had like 5 rounds in a row with some anti-playing location using my surfer deck. We went like 8 rounds that game, and facing the same deck that many times sucks. There is no "just one more" feeling since you know how things will go anyway. It's shocking how different the game feels.

I'm gonna try a Devil Dino deck or something next time.

Hesitant to bother sharing all their stats and abilities since we know they can totally change, but the August cards will be Daken (season pass), Silver Samurai, Lady Deathstrike, and X-23

Since theres 0 penalty for losing in Proving Ground except spent time, just be really loose with Snapping IMO. Speed things up.

I got through proving grounds quickly but the 2 silver games were rough (and I lost the 2nd one)

Ideal control play is
Nebula/Ant-Man 1
Jeff 2 (stacked on same lane)
Psylocke + Nebula/Ant-Man 3 (stacked on same lane-- you want to be sure Xavier wins his lane and stacking Ant-Man to 4 or having Nebula in the locked lane will usually do this)
Prof X 4 onto stacked lane (unless they defend, then send him somewhere else and have Jeff follow him)

That will often win a lane. Then you move Jeff off if he's not needed.

Then you can go Iron Man + Onslaught to drop 28 into another lane or Cosmo + Destroyer or whatever.

It has more tricks than them because you're not wasting slots on stuff like Wasp and Cyclops and High Evo himself. Also if you don't draw Xavier you can use the Onslaught + Iron Man + Omega Red combo for a 48 power lane and 8 on the other 2.

Matches up really well against High Evo and Galactus. I have some trouble with bounce decks though.

I feel like Scorpion could be replaced with something since all the Luke Cage is out there. Might swap Rogue in for him.

My favorite thing about Conquest is having to face the same obnoxious decks multiple times in a row for half an hour.

I feel like your parents didnt love you is the perfect statement for people who just play the junk board set aka clogging everything with Debrii, both Goblins, Rockslide, Scorpion/Iceman, etc lol

I got The Peak trying out this High Evo JaneJaw deck. Turn 2 I got to play Lockjaw and a 0 cost Dracula who pulled out Jane so I got Dracula right back. I played Dracula into Lockjaw again and he brought out Odin so I got Dracula right back again. What luck!

you only need 52 proving grounds wins to earn enough medals to get the variant, and that's assuming you get nothing from silver or higher other than the free entry medals

Conquest does seem designed for people who want to spend a lot of time playing the game, which is cool. But prob not for me.

That said, it also seems a bit underwhelming to spend all that time playing and get ZERO rank progress.

Guy had Daredevil and saw I was playing Modok turn 5. Guess they didnt feel like counting how many cards were in my hand before locking down left location? He even took a long time to play it out so I figured he was doing the math

This is my only major complaint. I wanted Conquest as a new way to play ranked.

In other news I like how quickly you can tap out of Conquest. Ill probably just get the Mystery Variant this time and thats it? Im not hurting enough for gold/credits or sweaty enough to do the grind for Goblin when I dont even play him to begin with

As annoying as Evo is Im just glad to not see Cosmo and Armor every game because it means I can actually play my Destroy deck

I hate it because Rogue stealing Cyclops's powers by accident and uncontrollably firing optic blasts all over the place was an iconic moment in the X-Men cartoon and I can't recreate it.

I just hate that for ANY ongoing ability. I hate it for Daredevil too; ongoing should be standard.

Right? Abilities should be ongoing or on reveal I hate these nebulous unstoppable ones.

They should at least add some counterplay or give them a name like "Trigger" or something.

The difference is that all of those cards are basically "If, then" statements and Ongoing cards are "Always".

But most of the cards could easily be one or the other and it seems like there's no rhyme or reason.

Collector only gets power if he's on the board when you add cards to your hand.

But Morbius just looks at the total number of discarded cards and gives you power regardless.

Why couldn't Collector be: "Ongoing: +1 power for each card you've added to your hand that didn't start in your deck"

IDK!

I feel like they didnt want to because then basically every card would be countered by Rogue/Enchantress or Cosmo? I dunno. Some of them are more annoying than others since theres nothing you can really do about them

But that seems like how it should be. If you're worried about them getting zapped you need to plan around how and when you play them.

If thats what Collectors text said, you couldnt use Valkyrie or Shadow King to counter him.

Gotta give cards like Shadow King more reason to justify their existence <_<

Yeah but you could counter him with Rogue. Those trigger cards just need some counterplay too. If it were an actual keyword then you could make cards to counter them.

It's very intentional whether they make an ongoing effect actually Ongoing or not

Another function those conditional cards have by not being Ongoing is to incentivize playing cards out to the board early.

Also most of them do have counterplay

I think the "trigger" effects are good for cards like Dracula but don't make sense for cards like collector.

I got into the DC Dual Force beta so we'll see how that goes if I get any time to play this weekend. The servers are only up from 12PM to 5PM EST which is annoying.

It seems to fall closer to the Hearthstone side of things compared to Marvel Snap though so IDK if I want to commit to another card game like Hearthstone.

Yeah, there's no point in doing Conquest when you just have to fight High Evo Control decks. Not worth any of that headache dealing with multiple matches with them in a row. If they don't nerf High Evo into the ground they are out of their minds. It's almost as bad as Galactus.

Yeah the only real comparison to Snap is being a card game with superheroes. It's definitely closer to a HS/Runeterra style game. Looks really fun though!

Lost like 3 times in a row on proving grounds since the decks I faced made my ineffective. 3 wins away from being able to get my pixel Modok though!
