The upcoming Battle of Legends set mostly revealed. It's some good stuff. Assault Synchron is probably gonna be relevant for a while, which is funny that MD got it first. It has just about every PUNK that's worth anything except Dragon Drive, which is saddening to me a bit. They're also missing the field and traps, which isn't a huge deal. They're probably worth cents and only 1 ofs, sometimes more of the field spell occasionally.

It should massively drive down the price of building a PUNK irl. I need em.

In the upcoming TCG set, they have probably the best generic lvl 6 synchro (finally... why is a draw 1 do nothing card the best one thus far), and of course the best generic lvl 2 tuner in the game

There are enough cards here to guarantee Foxy Tune is at best like 5~10 bucks, maybe less if Assault Synchron takes all the price for the set

Still waiting for the price to drop. It was like $80 per box a month ago, now 73 bucks and still dropping

I think when people realized most of the value is in the Quarter Century Rares (really crossing my fingers that I get one...) and Assault Synchron, the price dropped quite a bit. All of this is for the sake of moving forward with making an IRL PUNK deck.

New Horus cards look fun. Their spell has a "four times per turn" restriction, which might be the first card with that restriction. (I know "thrice per turn" is on like, 3 cards total lol)

Though I'm not really sure where the original Horus fits into this, if it will at all. It should be easy to use the "sons" as tribute fodder for the Lv 6, and the spell makes it super easy to proc its level up into the big bird, but that still seems too much work. Maybe they just intend it to be a funny control deck using the main four monsters, unless we get a new Horus retrain, or more support. >_>

Does anyone play older formats?

My cousins and I are thinking about getting into GOAT Format. But we'll do a few tweaks like no DDuo. I'm kind of interested tbh because holy shit I get bored fast when one of them is doing a ten minute combo in the current format.

Seems they're more like Horus' bros rather than Horus himself. But the Pharaonic Guardian thing works for both Horus and the bros

Yeah. The wording makes me think they do intend to add some more to it. Shame Horus was a Level card. Fun mechanic idea that barely worled when released and is completely unusable now without effects that ignore it entirely.

Baiting people to negate activation of cards/effects can allow you to circumvent some stuff.

...mindgaming is hard.

Edison is widely known to be the YGO sweet spot. Pre-Edison, even GOAT, lacks much combos at all. The advantages kinda come from just having more sack cards in your hand. The win cons come from just drawing enough Chaos cards and GY filling just kinda comes from a few turns of butting heads and having cards that just draw more cards so you can sack harder.

Edison on the other hand actually let you summon 3~5 times per turn. But the board you end up with tend to be like Stardust for protection, monsters that aim to stick around to kill next turn or overextend for OTK and potentially run into a Gorz or Tragoedia or a Mirror Force and then lose next turn cuz the other guy outed your Stardust and nuked your board.

Also GOAT is one of those formats where you have about 25 of the cards basically decided in advance, and the rest are the things that your deck actually aims to do, which might not matter cuz the 25 fixed slots might just sack the game.

In Edison, it's been played long enough that people figured out around 10~15 archetypes that are basically in pretty similar power levels. During the time, people didn't figure out that some cards were absurdly strong. You get stuff like Aliens, Flamvells, old Dragunity, Plants, and Gladiator Beasts somehow able to get pretty similar amount of wins vs. one another. There's actual resource management, and the sacky cards don't end the game cuz the game was inherently defensive. I mean just look at how Stardust Dragon was designed.

Anyways, there's a reason that most YGO players that's been playing forever play Edison, not Goat. Goat is a good entry level alt format and often very caveman-y. Like oh Snatch Steal into Scapegoat Metamorphosis and just free win.

Its hard to beat the feeling when you do it right. Even more so to plan for multiple disruptions. Had some fun times with my Thunder dragons that way.

Now Im on the fence about Dinos. They are a fun deck but so complicated. Since I reinvested in Synchros (my only type I didnt have a solid deck for other than pure links) Im wavering to go back to the dark side that is Swordsoul Tenyi >.>

Just means next time you wont flub it. Ive had so many A-ha moments by doing the wrong thing but then able to capitalize on it in the future. Thats peak Yu-Gi-Oh. Making the rules work for you and forcing bad choices for your opponent

Like, one of the most hilarious was against Tearlaments that, despite knowing I had to remove Ruru off the field first before ss-ing, I ended up ss-ing first which costed me the entire duel lol.

Also yesterday I forgot Block Dragon protects (JUST WHY??!?) against card effect destruction yet I chose to try to pop Dragite lol. Everything before had been quite perfectly executed even (including forcing a negate off Borreload Savage with rarely used Borrelcode Dragon GY effect).

Bro, your selling yourself short. Ive seen you make a lot of progress in these topics over the last year. Everyone makes mistakes in Master Duel. Anyone that says they havent is a damn liar.

Like learning Dinos? If you dont pick the correct babyceasaurus on the prompt? Dead combo. One of the most niche things Ive seen in the game where you have to pick the one on the right of two identical cards for the effect to work. I learned that by choosing the left one. I even watched a guide telling me to pick the one on the right!

Currently playing this horsesh- interesting deck. I'm undefeated while fumbling through this shit, beat a Dino despite misplaying once.

Also fiiiine this deck is actually insane and I think probably one of the strongest decks you can play this event outside the FTKs. The big problem is, however, going 2nd and also takes forever to get a kill if I don't naturally draw into Spright Gamma Burst

You could probably just craft the deck with how cheap it is. For UR's, the deck only needs 2 copies of Kozmo Farmgirl (maybe you could even get away with 1) and the rest is lower rarity stuff, plus it doesn't need the extra deck either.

Well it's pretty easy to stick on the board, and after 1 turn, you don't really need em. I'd say the other 2 are better finishers, so you need 2 or more of them. The 2k attack one is pretty much one of the main ways you can even finish the game. They're just by far the best 1st Xyz to summon. After that, not entirely necessary imo

Using D/D/D in the Legend Anthology Event, since only 3 cards from it are banned. Losing Abyss King Gilgamesh and Machinex hurts, but I can manage. There are still the old combos to fall back on, as well as new onesI can make using D/D Gryphon.

Surprisingly, Ghost Mourner and Moonlit Chill isn't banned for this format.

Had a really fun, long duel against Sacred Beasts. (Turns out having an in-archetype, continuous Spooky Dogwood helps you survive) Odd-Eyes won out after like 10 turns. Even got to use the Yuya card to defend for a turn.
