How many years did it take

I'm not sure I even played a game over level 10 unless the game started there.

I ran a game that started at level 3 and went to 20. Promised them we'd start at 3, we were ALL sick of starting at 1.

Closest I got as a player was a game based on the 8 bit theater version of FF1. Started at level 1 in 3.5 as a Black Mage, game got to level 14 and ended prematurely.
Like a decade later, DM had been running a new version of the campaign in PF and once the new party reached where we had left off, invited me and another player of the original campaign back (converting our characters to the PF rules), and we then got to go from 14 to 20.
Not sure that counts or not.

No, to be fair my characters barely survive more than a month of play in the first place.

Where are the CHEETOS?!

There is a campaign underneath waterdeep I think it was (might have been a diff town) that goes from 1-20 that I played with a group, we only got to around 10 or so before covid happened and the group broke up for good. Closest I came to be honest even though I played dnd since first edition (and Man Myth and Magic before that etc).

I've never really run or played in all that many D&D games period. But I have run White Wolf World of Darkness campaigns where the players started out as newbie scrubs and eventually wound up more or less becoming gods. That one took a few years of intensive playing (we were playing in college, when we all lived together so getting sessions together was incredibly easy).

Dungeon of the Mad Mage. It's a pure dungeon crawl delve into Undermountain.

We did a year and a half long SCP themed monster of the week campaign from level 0-10. A lot more narrative, a lot less numbers

I think schmen got a bit burned out on GMing by the end, because he has not discussed running another game

Yep, played one with some former co-workers. We were originally playing during lunch about 2 times a week, then after about 2 years we switched to playing for about 4 hours on a night every other week since we didn't work together anymore. I think we did that for another 2 years. We technically played another quest or two after hitting level 20 to finish out our character's storyline.

So about 4 years total.

Our current game is a level 1-12 I believe, and we are currently at level 10. Been playing for about a year and a half so far. This one is much more goal oriented though so it is going faster.

1-17 so far. (Might even be 18, there has been some juggling of characters on my part, meaning my main might have missed out on a level up.)

We started in 2014 or 2015. The level 1 sheet for my second character dates back to late 2015.
