I still call it HBO Max. Also, I feel like it has not run as well since the name change. My wife and ai started a rewatch of Game of Thrones and the ads in particular cause freeze ups periodically. I feel like it runs a bit worse, maybe an update needs to roll out?

Getting HBO out of the name is the right call. HBO was just one of their owned networks with shows on the service. HBO Max was no more appropriate than calling it Cartoon Network Max. The HBO prestige brand would be damaged the longer it remains on the name of the Warner Bros streaming service, especially now that all the trash Discovery shows are on the service.

I would run three different front ends for the same service.

HBO Max, Discovery+, and Warner Bros Direct

  1. You can advertise that one cheap subscription fee gets you THREE! streaming sites.
  2. Preserve HBO Brand recognition by not mucking up the catalogue with Discovery unscripted reality trash.
  3. Warner Bros Direct would feature programming from both HBO Max and Discovery+
  4. Warner Bros Direct can be abbreviated to WBD which can also mean Warner Bros Discovery.
