Should be fucking slapped. Stop falling for corporate propoganda and then regurgitating it to the low paid worker who just explained to you why there is a wait for a table.

Yes many people are unwilling to work in shit conditions, for shit pay for shit people serving shit customers.

Maybe treat us better and we will want to work.

Cut executive compensation vastly, ban or deeply regulate buybacks and give us all better sick leave, vacation time, don't open before sunrise or close late night(and if you do give us hazard pay for fucking our sleep), give us functional equipment, higher pay, give us more room to push back on shit customers and stop having skeleton crews as standard even when staff is availble. Also close down when there is severe weather and power outages.

Oh and restrict catering orders, and custom orders more, and let us remove items temporaily from online ordering at the store level. I am sick of running out of something and still getting orders for it online.

100%. Owning a business does not entitle you to other people's labor at whatever wage you want to offer. There will be people willing to do the job you're asking them to do if you pay them enough. If you can't or won't pay that much then you have a flawed business model.

Not sure why people are being snarky with TC, and his OP.
A lot of what he said makes sense.

Also, some people really don't mind working, they just want to feel valued, that's part of the promise.

~Anyway, America was largely built on slave labor, and we've just shrouded that a little with certain regulations. But the business owners have the clout. That and the American labor force has had their civil rights bred out of them. Many people don't know their own worth, and business owners exploit that.

People need to stop saying people wanna work for more money! Truth is, nobody wants to work, even in good conditions. I myself am one of those. I dont wanna work, but alas I need to feed my video game addiction (and myself lol).

Airbnb absolutely needs to be banned.

Also property taxes should punish owning many properties AND charging rent higher then normal.

People who buy many homes should be paying more per home in taxes. While single home owners for normal homes should be charged far less(also sports stadiums, golf clubs etc should pay far higher property tax rates)

The funny thing is, the biggest pushers of that narrative are backers of objectively the laziest president this country has ever had. They're backers of a man who's never done a full day's work in his life, lived most of his life in a gold tower, and doesn't know how grocery stores work because other people have always bought his food for him.

But apparently you have to be a racist and/or a winner of the vagina lottery for this life of brazen idleness to be acceptable.

I also don't believe most people want to sit on their asses all day like that man does, no matter what they say. I believe they want time for themselves and for the work that they do to MATTER in some way, as in it has some kind of meaning other than making more money for some soulless suit hundreds of miles away from them. Most people would be overjoyed to do a few hours of work a day, they just don't want their entire day to be consumed by it, and that merely for the purpose of staying alive just to do more of this monotonous work and being told that wanting to do less, wanting to be able to travel, wanting time to explore their hobbies, etc. is lazy and ungrateful to their bosses, who do not work themselves and are so kind as to pay their workers pennies on the dollar for what their labor is worth.

Shit pay is fairly easy to fix for many companies. Stop buybacks and slash executive compensation massively. Use that money on wages.

Cobditions can inprove too and better pay/sick leave and such help that.

Its so true. The narrative was very strongly accepted as nobody wants to work for a long time, but specially during the pandemic. Recently, its shifted to nobody wants to pay, because that the truth.

The store will have twenty people on payroll, but only allow two people on the floor because it saves them money. So it puts the worker in an outright abusive and sometimes unsafe situation and it gives the customer a horrible experience. But its all work it because the CEOs are getting record profits every month. When corporations make record profit and the workers are struggling, thats our countrys definition of a good economy, so we cant expect any help from the government.

Is anyone else here a victim of wage theft from a larger corporation? Because I definitely am. Work has become so sadistic and abusive that I honestly dont want to work ANY job. I want to retire and get UBI and basically just stay out of trouble. This is what they have pushed us to and I certainly will not accept my role as a modern slave to make the rich more money.

The only real difference is whose pockets the money is going into. I work for a worldwide privately owned manufacturing company. We don't have shareholders or a company that owns us. Just one dude, who inherited it from his brother, who inherited it from their dad. They've done nothing but cut benefits (some of which had been in place for 40 years) and then complain because turnover rate is something like 50% for new employees in the first 6 months.

It's a non union, non airconditioned, factory job just outside of Saint Louis. If you want people to do hard, tiring, and occasionally dangerous physical labor you are going to have to fucking pay them for it.

Basically this. I dont even mind having to work (but dont get me wrong, if given the option to not work, I would take it in a heartbeat lol) but what I have an issue with is that so much time is already spent at work, and I cant even afford to buy a house or have a family.
