This song is about slaves celebrating their master's unexpected death after falling from his horse by drinking his whiskey which normally would have gotten them a very harsh punishment. There's also an implication that the slave spooked the horse and blamed it on the blue tail fly.

It's a song about family annihilation/murder-suicide.

As a grown ass man who grew up deathly afraid of being murdered by his unstable father I related so hard that I had a full-blown panic attack listening to it. Still slaps though. Listening to it kinda helps me cope with the trauma, if that makes sense.
