By desirable I don't mean rare just whatever model happened to be the best.

Very little. The made a ton of them and the emulators are good enough that most people can play PS2 games without the hardware if they want to. I'd say something like 30 bucks sounds reasonable.

I recall buying my PS2 Slim for $50CAD about 6 years ago. It was refurbished, so I don't mind paying a little to make sure it's running decently. Came with a controller and memory card too.

Yeah not much demand for these consoles in general compared to the massive supply, they also can develop some problems so that also makes them feel more throwaway.

Why do you want a PS2 and why wouldn't you just get a slip PS3?

Can the PS3 emulate PS2 games as well as having an actual PS2?

Because I am using PCSX2 on my computer and the reason I want to go back to the original PS2 is because I still own all of my games(just lacking the system) and PCSX2 doesn't run particularly well, so I just wanna go back to the OG.

If owning a specific PS3 model can play PS2 games just as good as an actual PS2, I'd consider it even though I have little use for the playstation 3 itself.

I have not used it extensively, I just know it can and how easy it is to set up on one of the early model slims (don't have the hardware issues that the fats have). Keep in mind that it uses the same emulator that the PS2 classics have. Keep in mind I also have a PS2, but not really any desire to play PS2 games (last time I really touched the PS2 was with PCSX2 over a decade ago).

I assume it's just a hardware issue for something like that. I never tried it on my current computer though.
