Just finished Devil May Cry 2, seeing how this thing holds up.

Played it for the first time 3 summers ago. It was great. One of my favorite switch single player games. I think it still holds the test of time well vs more modern RPGs from a gameplay perspective. The grid unlock system was really fun. Besides that, the story is really good.

I've picked expert sphere grid. My last playthrough over a decade ago probably used standard. Not sure what I'm in for.

Best in the FF series IMO, especially on the gameplay side of things.

I always wanted to replay this but always dropped it because no option to skip cutscenes.
Also the lightning dodge, fuck that shit.

I always wanted to like this game but I honestly despise nearly every character in it. Jecht and Auron are cool. Everyone else kinda blows

It took some squinting and some approximating but I have found Hastega and Quick Hit at the bottom left section of the sphere grid. Should probably go up a little and get flee first for good measure though.

Expert grid let you freely decide your character build, but generally it's:

• Tidus: speed stuffs like haste
• Yuna: white magics
• Wakka: status ailments
• Lulu: black magics
• Rikku: thief stuffs
• Auron: stat breaks.

Kimahri is whatever.

I remember getting Yuna the -ra black magics before continuing on the white magic build, but it requires a lvl 2 key sphere, and it helps a lot.

Some advice: Don't put Flee on anyone but Tidus. Or at the very least don't get it on your main Steal user.

Tip: stay away from the summoner!

Final Fantasy X was one of the most memorable gaming experiences for me.

I bought the game when I got my PS2 and it was the first console and game that I ever bought with my own money from my first job. So playing thru it had a whole extra level of satisfaction to it.

Trying to think what to name the bird summon. I don't have any in-jokes that have anything to do with them and I want all my best funny names on hand for the good summons later. And I only get 8 letters to work with.

Jecht just appeared in a flashback. I'm very sure that was the same voice actor as Captain Blue.
If that's the case, then I know how Tidus feels. He left me too.

I like Jecht. We need a prequel game for his journey with Braska and Auron.

FFX was awesome. First and only Final Fantasy game I played. I sunk many hours into it and had a big crush on Rikku at the time. Fun fact: Rikkus voice actress also voiced Timmy on The Fairly Oddparents.

I'd rather have a prequel that takes place in the real Zanarkand from 1000 years ago, during the time of Yunalesca and Lenne and Shuyin.

I can't remember if the game wants me to grind early encounters or not but there's a handful of +200hp spheres on the grid and I really want to get to 4 digit HP as fast as possible.

What other Final Fantasy games have you played?

Beaten 12 and 8, started 7 but really didn't get off the ground.
Haven't touched the franchise in over a decade.

Only if it follows Auron or the perspective swaps between the three. There's great angst potential for Auron after Braska's final summoning and also a chance to show the church trying to sanitize Braska's story after his death.

With the expert sphere grid, Yuna and Lulu's grid intersect a lot and you can make Lulu obsolete as Yuna is fast and has much higher magic attack by dipping into Lulu's grid.

This has absolutely been happening and it's pretty great. Yuna's already got all 4 basic elemental spells and Sinspawn Geneaux melted once all three characters had haste cast on them..

On the Fahrenheit the night before they go against Sin would be the best place I think. Or maybe he makes his own Sphere messages, like Yuna and Jecht did.

That would be pretty much the last possible opportunity. I could imagine Auron cutting the story short or abridging it around the point when Braska's crew reaches Zanarkand and then the rest is just Auron's private flashback or something.

Ooh that would be a neat take, too. Somehow advance the frame narrative to the end of FFX and reveal the end of their story as they reminisce and tell it to each other.

Oh no it's the forced Blitzball game.

I feel like X gets better with age. I hated it when it came out, because it was a less polished game than 9 was. It didnt have as much to explore, and the voice acting was bad.

Going back to it now, it has a fun campiness to it, and compared to what came after, the linearity isnt terrible by todays standard.

Jecht shot -> guy just catches it
Random whoever kicks it from halfway across the field -> gets a goal
I remember liking this minigame once you get the busted Al Bhed goalie and like Biggs and Wedge or something but this is a really offputting way to introduce players to it.

That was a disgraceful misuse of the time I have offered this game.
This game is lucky it has one of the best cutscenes of all time coming up.

Oh right, Anima. I knew I was getting those bonus treasures in the trials for some reason.

I don't remember Auron being this unhelpfully cryptic.
He's gotta be seeing what reactions he can goad Tidus into.

Oh damn they've got an orb that lets you pull in the Al Bhed dictionary from your other save files.
I like the idea of that. More games should let you loot your completed files.

I wonder how this character ended up with the name Seymour anyway.
