I actually have no idea what these ingredients the monster arena is giving me 99 of are.
I am interested in getting stone/death on a capture weapon and more AP on something.

Briefly amused myself with the idea of low level Wakka aggressively saying something like "Go to hell!" before lightly throwing a beachball. Then realised he wouldn't say that, he'd say "Go to hell, ya!" which is even better.

I can't wait to get Nimrook. The other Blitz teams are making some really bad shots that even Keepa can save, meanwhile it's still a whole operation to get into point blank range to hedge my bets against Nimrook.
Guy has about 10 games left.

-Make it big, world famous, everyone loves watching and supporting you.
-Ghosts that live in boulders all get together and teleport in some super freak Blitz prodigy from 1000 years ago.
-He's here to save the world but he has a free pass to trample your dreams while he's at it.
-He throws his team of actual players to the wayside and begins filling his team with random desk clerks, bored looking guards and underpaid chauffeurs.
-The newly formed post office/pringles factory/furniture store/millennium old water polo god hybrid team destroys you 6-14 to 0 in every game.
-Pro wrestlers mock your team and your home town laughs in agreement.
-People send each other tickets to watch you play live as a prank.
-Only alternative is to play oft-mocked games with other 14-0 victims.
-Your friends and fellow players become disheartened, some quit.

It's probably been eclipsed since then, but at the time of FFX's release, a fully-maxed Attack Reels was the single most powerful attack in franchise history, dealing just shy of 1,200,000 damage iirc (Tidus' ultimate overdrive comes in 2nd place).

Oh that's about as promising as it gets, I've gotten Attack Reels before but never maxed out Wakka's weapon.
I like the idea that the beachball wielding maniac was once considered the strongest thing ever.

You'll need Wakka's ultimate weapon (or anything with Break Damage Limit), and you'll pretty much have to complete the entire Sphere Grid to get his Strength up to that point. You'll also have to line up the 3 reels perfect every time, which doubles the amount of strikes Wakka makes (not very difficult to do, but still). Every attack reel equals 2 strikes, and 3 in a row nets you 12 strikes - so at max damage per hit, 99,999 x 12 = well over a million damage.

I think that's the case, anyway - been over 15 years since I played the game, lol, and I'm only familiar with the original version of the game. Back then the game's ultimate bosses were Shinryu and Nemesis, but I understand even tougher uber-bosses have been added since.

Why does Seymour just kind of reappear within Sin again?
Last I think I saw of him was Seymour Flux on Gagazet, did Sin jump him offscreen? Did he immediately offer himself up when he heard Yunalesca and the Final Aeon were gone?

I hope there's an explanation because it'd sure be something if they saved this theme song for the random extra fight after the character got left in the dust by Yunalesca, Sin and Yu Yevon.
Honestly, Seymour Flux would have been easier to appreciate if they played this there and against Natus.

I guess he must have realized the whole final aeon angle wasn't gonna work at some point after Gagazet and figured he'd try just playing puppet master instead. That fight music is a banger though.

Also idk how he was planning to become the final fayth anyway when he was already dead. I thought Lulu or someone said that fayth were the souls of the living willingly being bound into the statues. But maybe I'm making that up or it's just unreliable narration. If part of an aeon can become a fayth, who's to say an unsent can't?

Makes as much sense as anything lol. Whatever the case, we got a rad song and a fight with a cool gimmick. It's not nearly as hard as any of his previous fights, but the spinny glyph things are a neat idea.

Fun fact, this is only true because of the damage limit. Otherwise, it would be a physical attack from Auron's celestial weapon under optimal circumstances, but only in the original Japanese version - in all others (including American PS2, unlike most version differences), this got nerfed and the title would instead go to Kimahri's Nova.

Maybe (Xenoblade 1 spoilers) it didn't matter what his plan was since he either didn't have one or it sucked, the game just wanted to make you feel like you'd moved on to bigger and much more final things, like with Metal Face. Both Seymour and Metal Face are still just kind of around pushing their petty, poorly thought out schemes. Both decide to jump the party and die uncermoniously while the party have long since moved on to Yu Yevon/Sin and Egil/The Mechonis.
Xenoblade 1 clearly really really liked this game so it seems plausible what happened there could have come from here.

Still though, the song. Could have at least shared it with Dark Anima.

They're the only thing I remember being a pain to capture. Supposedly if you stand in a certain blue corner of the cave they're more common, but who knows if that's just FFX's equivalent of holding down + B to catch pokemon.

I don't remember Don Tonberry hunting standing out, probably because the Omega Ruins were also good for general level / item grinding. As far as I can recall, hunting Tonberries was pretty much the only reason to be in the sunken cave at that late stage of the game, and it was such a slog.

What would the numbers have been with no damage limits?
Just over 5mil for Nova; about 365k per hit for Attack Reels; about 7.5mil for Auron's weapon.

This assumes max Str/Mag as applicable, 5x Cheer or Focus as applicable; 0 Def or Armor Broken enemy in the case of Attack Reels (the other two ignore defensive stats anyway); critical hit in the case of Auron and Nova (Attack Reels can't crit); and Berserk in Auron's case. And of course, nothing like Protect being in effect on the enemy's side, where applicable. Also, assuming randomization is in your favor as much as possible (reduce these numbers to 256/271ths of their current values if you want average rather than optimal randomization).

As a related note, most guaranteed-99999 enemy attacks do around the 2mil mark in the absence of damage limits IIRC. One notable exception is Dark Yojimbo's Zanmato, which is affected by Defence and is even possible to survive with a high-Defence, high-HP aeon using Shield.

On other games the meteor spell are used as a counter to magic attacks or summons.

Let's see... Something to say about FFX Omega Weapon... Uh...
Maybe his health since he had a lot? Well actually that Catastrophe guy in the arena had way more and Omega went down pretty fast.
His attacks? Only got to see one. Some energy blast.
The name? Kind of weird how with this game's lore a corrupt summoner changed his name to Omega Weapon. Sounds like the final form of Heavy Weapons Guy.
Something about a long unskippable cutscene? No, it was pretty brief. If I somehow lost it would have been a considerable walk back I guess.
Ultima Weapon? I think there were monsters in the first half of that dungeon more intimidating than him. I'd rather fight him than be ambushed by a Giant Malboro or Demonoliths.
Hmm...
Edit: Oh! I could act disappointed that he wasn't stronger! Oh hold on, that's what Nemesis is for.
