Wine isn't going to play most triple A games, nor will it run most modern proprietary software, and the FOSS alternatives aren't even in the same realm. I used Slackware exclusively for years and I still use Manjaro on my laptop, but I got tired of not being able to play the vast majority of PC games that I want to play. Dual-booting is out of the question because I'd rather not be constantly rebooting my computer. If I just wanted to use Steam, I would use Linux. It's more secure, it feels private, like Microsoft isn't sending all your "anonymous" data back to ad servers. Linux is better for servers because they don't hide their server features behind paywalls like Server Edition and Azure. They also don't shut off your computer without your consent randomly. Linux could be great if they got their shit together as far as UI and ease of use go. It's great that they don't have the same corporate bloatware as Windows, though. Who else loves seeing news articles randomly shoved in their face about how there's a rapist downtown? Very relevant to my daily life and interests.
