Yeah, my dad had a similar problem recently. He couldn't lay flat or his heart would start racing, so he had to prop himself up to sleep. At first, I thought it was him getting overzealous with detoxing (health nut that he is), but he later told me that a visit to a chiropractor fixed that issue and gave him very restful sleep.

Visiting that chiropractor near me would be nice, but I wanna save my money for fixing up my lip. Basically, a childhood accident gave me what's known as a venous lake, so I've had a purple lump on my lip since I was 10. I really wanna get rid of it, because it feels like it undermines any attempts I make at self-improvement. The nearby dentist can do it, but wants $900.

Time for freezer buzzing again. At least it took a fairly better 32 days this time, as opposed to the quick 11 days last time. Unfortunately, we can't deal with it immediately this time. The company wants a recording of the buzzing sound before they'll send someone, so we have to deal with it until it gets to a point where it's audible and consistent to get a recording.

Just what I wanna deal with when the weather finally started getting nice. If something good is happening, there has to be something bad along with it to negate my happiness.

Man, I miss when our male cat would drift off in my lap like this. The female cat will only sleep in my lap if I have a fuzzy blanket over it. Luckily, my aunt got me one for Christmas that I'm keeping draped over the arm of the couch where I sit.

Cult of the Lamb is really good. It's a roguelite dungeon crawler with a demonic cult to manage in between, wrapped in a deliberately clashing cutesy artstyle.

Managing the cult isn't too difficult if you choose the right doctrines. Choosing the one that removes the penalty for serving grass meals is a must, since you'll get loads of it from destroying it in dungeons. The donation ritual can easily get you hundreds of coins, while dungeon crawling might get you dozens. It causes a drop in follower faith, but doing a sermon right after will undo that.

The ritual that increases rare fish spawns can make catching rare fish for the fisherman's quest way easier, then he'll sell you fish afterwards, and some of those fish are used in dishes that give great hunger restoration and have no penalties. Combine that with the riches from the donation ritual, and your food troubles are effectively over.

Setting up tribute shrines is a must, since your followers will leave money, food, and materials, including refined ones. I'd also recommend lumber mines, since wood can be difficult to come by, and a number of useful items require it.

Followers can die of old age, and you'll need something to get rid of their bodies. You could cannibalize them (though is it really cannibalism if everyone is a different species?), but that means you'd sacrifice the more practical grass eating. Burying them leaves a grave that takes up space. So I think the best thing is the composting bin, where you let their bodies break down into fertilizer. Speaking of followers, while you're forced to take them as you find them through dungeons or follower quests, they don't actually start having needs until you officially convert them, so you can just leave them hanging until you're sure you're ready to take on more.

Something I find odd is that dying on a dungeon run causes damage to your followers' faith, even though you explicitly come back from the dead. You'd think that seeing your glorious leader defy death right in front of your eyes would make you have more faith in them than ever. Imagine if the guys who saw Jesus come back from the dead were like "So what? You got killed! You're lame!"

Fuck, think I might need another root canal in the future. One of my teeth has gotten sensitive to hot and cold foods these past couple of weeks. It's always something...

Our neighbor just gave us a whole lotta cookies. I've started taking her trash can to the curb for her. She's gonna pay me $20 a month to do it, despite telling her that it takes basically no effort.

well that's very nice of her and very nice of you.

The PS4 controller has this barcode sticker on the bottom, and extended use caused it to partially peel off. I got fed up of this and peeled it off, but that left a faintly sticky adhesive behind. Thankfully, it easily rubbed off with a tissue.

Speaking of controllers, this Switch LED controller has that function where it pulses red while it's charging. Unfortunately, it does this while you're actively using it as well. No using the other lighting modes while it's plugged in. Also, the only indicator you get of its battery life is when it gets low, the lights go out and it occasionally gives a red flicker. I like this thing, but it's absolutely got some questionable design decisions. Like, they seem like unnecessary bells and whistles added by programmers looking to pad out the number of functions.

it sounds like they borrowed that from whoever designed the DirecTV/AT&T cable remote. it does that when the batteries are low.

Last night, I was comfortably dozing on the couch and had an incredible dream. I was a kid in the 90s again in my childhood house, my mind was blown watching my brother play the OG Tomb Raider games (those fan mod videos helped, I'm sure), and the TV was playing a highlight compilation of energetic 90s music by artists that were passionate and proud of what they made. It was sheer bliss to me!

...then I was woken up by my mom coming down to ask me to clean up some cat puke off the stairs. After over a year of not puking, the cat chose that night to end her streak. That's what I get for daring to experience genuine joy, I guess.

John Wick 4 is an absolute blast like the last three were! There's this one scene that's an overhead shot as John fights off guys on all sides, like it's a slightly less frenzied Hotline Miami level where the enemies don't spew huge amounts of blood.

There was also a trailer for this other upcoming film called Sisu, from the JW studio. It takes place in Finland in 1944 and involves a retired army captain slaughtering the shit out of a bunch of nazis after they try to steal some gold he mined. From what it showed, this guy could be John Wick's grandpa. I definitely wanna see it. I mean, the studio who made the best modern action films making one where the most deplorable group in history gets ripped a new one several times over? Sign me the fuck up!

We went shopping at a discount supermarket for Easter dinner ingredients, and they had a used office chair for sale for only $13. It's mine now! No wheels, but the seat is much more comfortable, and the back isn't shaped in a way that it will cause me shoulder and rib problems.

My brother just took me to see the Mario Bros. movie. It was fantastic! I was skeptical since it was by Illumination, but they did a great job. They were clearly fans of the Mario series and treated it with the respect it deserved. I honestly can't say for sure how it might be to someone with no familiarity with Mario, but the amount of people who don't know who Mario is and who also haven't spent their life in an isolated tribe is a very small number.

With how well it's doing, I'm sure it'll get a sequel, and there's decades worth of Mario materials and story beats they could use. I'm hoping for one where Bowser has to begrudgingly work with Mario, as he has before. I'd also like if Wario was in one. With him being unhygenic and greedy, but physically strong and willing to do the right thing if there's a big paycheck at the end, there's a lot of potential.

We've finally got a repairman fixing the freezer since it's under warranty. Apparently it had a drain pipe that was too long and had a curve in it, which would be fine if it had a pump, but it doesn't. How a big company like General Electrics missed that is beyond me. Apparently this pipe was causing clogs and messing with some sensor or something? It's kinda beyond me, but I'm just glad this is being taken care of.

Forgot to mention that you can rename your cult in Cult of the Lamb. I named mine Baa-entology.

Also, it turns out the ritual that gets you a lot of money is essentially useless in the late game. Once you've unlocked all of your cult's upgrades, your followers will start generating coins at your main altar, and it's quite a good amount. The alternative ritual raises follower happiness, which you'll always be wanting to maintain.

Watching those videos of Tomb Raider fan levels got me in the mood to give the 2013 reboot another go. It and Rise are still solid enough games. The 2013 game is making my PS4 fan sound damn near like a jet engine most of the time. I don't remember it doing that before, but I haven't played since 2016, and a lot of shit has happened between then and now. Still, even GoW: Ragnarok didn't make it that loud, and that was made nine years later.

I'm transferring over my save data, and it's going to take over an hour. That's a real frigging long time for something that small. Glad I'm not also transferring over my downloaded games. If I wanna play something I downloaded, I'll just download that and any expansions. It'll be worth the smaller wait.

Man, now I'm gonna have to remember all the games I previously wanted, but wrote off as impossible after seeing they were for current-gen only. I can remember Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Alan Wake 2. Horizon: Forbidden West's expansion is current-gen only...

Glad the store has a wishlist function now.

As for interesting games, I'm seeing:

-Superliminal, a puzzle game where objects grow or shrink depending on where you're looking when you let them go. So if you pick up something and face the other side of the room, the item will become big. Face the wall, it'll become tiny. Basically, your perspective becomes reality.

-Save Room, which is literally just Resident Evil 4's grid-based inventory management as a full game. You have to make everything fit in your case, and you can make room by putting ammo into guns, letting yourself take damage so you can consume a health item, or mixing together crafting ingredients to make a single item that takes less room.

-Hardspace: Shipbreaker, which I remember being interested in. It's a simulator game where you're in space and have to take apart derelict ships and space stations. You have to properly sort out parts and be careful not to electrocute yourself or use any lasers on fuel tanks.

seen playthroughs of that, it is definitely a super trippy one because of that mechanic.

for some reason, I read it with the same inflection as "Safe Room," and was confused. but that's also a great concept to expand upon.

The PS5 really could use a better design. Neither end is flat, so it looks awkward laying on its side, but it's a bit too tall to have it stand up. The disc slot is under an overhang if it's laying flat, though I suppose it is a good way of reducing how much dust gets in.

I also don't like that it's white. I prefer darker furniture, so it stands out on my dark wooden entertainment center, especially next to the PS4 and Switch (which came with dark gray joy-cons). It also reminds me of sci-fi settings where everything is sleek, shiny, and bright. I never much cared for those. Give me a grungy Blade Runner dystopia any day.

yeah it's definitely a stark change from all the previous ones. the original PlayStation was grey and that was the lightest shade until this one.
