And for the last Honorable Mention...
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/2/5/8/AAUHRBAAERvq.jpg
Breach

For the moment, Major Zanetti, the second successful participant ever in the Atom Project is more of a Roz'etta Project. Rescued himself from the bowels of Area 51, Breach was the reason the party traveled to Area 51 in the first place, as the Visionary of Platinum Flats led them there to hunt down an item of significant importance. This item is Breach, a being that Darkseid seems to be extremely interested in capturing for his own purposes. Like others, such as Nightshade, the Ray and Lady Quark, Breach possesses some peculiar and unique function that makes him invaluable to Darkseid's continued conquest of Earth. And given his almost limitless nuclear abilities, it would make sense for a number of reasons.

This is where Rosetta comes in. Amanda Waller has forbidden Breach from entering the field; his energy signature is also extremely unique and easily identifiable. If word were to get back to Darkseid as to Breach's presence either in Z'onn Z'orr or the field, it could bring down the full might of Apokolips' forces on Checkmate. This is why Breach has been benched for the duration. Yet, Major Zanetti trained with the United States Army; nothing about waiting idly by while the country is at war sits well with him. So Rosetta has begun to form a sympathetic relationship with a man whose powers are godly and yet may in fact be the least useful member of the resistance right now. It's a really interesting story about being impotent in the face of a coming doom, and I've really enjoyed the two scenes the pair have had so far. I highly expect Breach to play a larger and larger role in the coming days - Black Canary has already hinted at more to come - but for now, this is a tale with no happy ending.

And with that, we're back to the ranking! The top half continues with our previous hint!

Marvin was such a shock, especially since Roz'etta, well, kind of *is* a Martian. It's like if a farcical drawing of a human became real.

And as for Breach, I really love the guy, it's not just that he has the power to help, but it's that he so badly *wants* to help, but he can't. It's rough for him, and Roz'etta is kinda drawn to these sorts of characters. Immense power, but lacking outlets.

#26 - Bandit
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/3/8/4/AAUHRBAAERxo.jpg
Who is Bandit? Why is Bandit ranked? Is #26 a good position to be ranked in this grouping? Do the readers know that Bandit is a very good, loyal dog who, despite being stolen and experimented on by evil, cruel scientists, escaped and found his way a hundred miles home to his dear owner Rose Hardin? Is it important to share that Rose now takes care of Bandit and his two other dear friends, the rabbit Pirate and the cat Tinker, who both were also experimented on? Would anyone notice that Bandit, Pirate and Tinker call themselves We3, for they are so closely bonded that they consider each other family? Would Bandit be recognized for the armor that was cruelly wired into his very body, so large that it looks like a massive shell possessing claws on every leg capable of shredding metal?

Does Bandit tug at the heartstrings of several players? Does his extremely inquisitive nature constantly get in the way of conversation, shifting a player's roleplaying experience with him in odd and unexpected ways? Is Bandit sometimes whimsically philosophical and yet always extremely earnest in his every interrogative? Could Bandit's questions even affect a player's perceptions of the world around them?

Is this ranking a fair one? Oh! There's Tinker. Goodbye, friend!

Hint: Few characters are more revenge-driven than this one.

#25 - Jim Gordon Jr.
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/5/7/8/AAUHRBAAER0q.png

It is entirely possible that the individual the party can rely on most to topple the leader of the OMACs within the city of Gotham is a psychopathic serial killer hellbent on revenge against his father. Jim Gordon Jr., discovered to be a hospitalized prisoner of the OMAC-controlled GCPD during a visit with Leslie Thompkins gone entirely awry, may have been the most dangerous individual in a lock-in event involving OMACs, an evil mortician, gangbangers, and more. Yet, despite surviving the travails of a nanovirus that can take nearly any form at all, it just may be that the most deadly thing on that hospital floor was the son of the once and future commissioner of the Gotham Police Department, the Dark Knight's closest friend, Jim Gordon.

Jim Gordon Jr. is a pariah of his family, a black sheep. Often forgotten and entirely absent from the first campaign, JGJR awoke, handcuffed to a hospital gurney without warning this time around, however, and he made no bones about his clear and uncompromising goal - he was going to bring down his father. Of course, there were caveats involved, such as ensuring his sister was aware of it when he did - and there appears to be no love lost when it comes to that pairing either. Yet, the party has very tenuously accepted an alliance with this unhinged - and prolific - killer. With the OMAC'd commissioner in his crosshairs, and the party's, just how comfortable are the players going to get with a bloodthirsty sociopath?

It wouldn't be the first. In Gotham. That wants Jim Gordon's head.

That's oddly specific, isn't it?

When I weight the potential for characters in this campaign, the wide-open set stage that is Gotham City seems the perfect place for JGJR to flourish, now that he's been left burst out in the open on the scene. Is the party's insatiable need to win enough to allow this sort of darker demon to overcome their better angels? We'll see.

Hint: The daughter of a supervillain.

#24 - Soranik Natu
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/8/3/8/AAUHRBAAER4u.jpg

A healer, a Lantern. Despite shouldering the burden as the ELDEST daughter of Sinestro, Soranik Natu spent much of her life unaware of this genetic legacy until the recent attack on Oa by the yellow lantern corps. Since then, she has retreated to her homeworld; it is here that Soranik has briefly forsworn two rings - one, a gift sent by her father, the other, a responsibility once worn by him. These two hand-me-downs have both played havoc with Soranik's sense of obligation and her desire to do right by her variation of the Hippocratic Oath - and to top all of this off, in a big ol' shit sundae of conflicting promises, Soranik's ring was delivered to her by Kyle Rayner, a Lantern she holds in very high esteem.

Much like Liseth Vok, Soranik is an example of destiny's eschews and paths independently forged. The desire to find own one's path, separate from the resolutions provided by one's forebears can hang like an anchor around one's neck, and it's no surprised that Soranik's fallback in a time of great uncertainty was to the one calling not force upon her by the edicts of others. Yet, when faced with perils that put her home planet in jeopardy and her partner's life on the line, Soranik not only took up one ring, but both.

It would be fair to say Soranik was hiding - but with encouragement from Brennus, Saoirse, and Spirit in particular, our good doctor recognized that waiting things out in secret was an act of cowardice. Knowing that her obligations were hers to choose or not gave Soranik a sense of self-identity again, and she chose to wield her rings on her own terms. I was really impressed with how complex the immediate relationships with Soranik were, right off the bat. But maybe Soranik is just a complicated woman.

Now returned to Oa, I'm already thrilled at Spirit's relationship with Soranik. While still demonstrating a little of the natural pecking order through experience, I think the pair come across more as partners than teacher and student, and yet Soranik still plays an almost older-sister role for the two, just in their first (still extant) ongoing encounter. I hope things maintain that dynamic as we forge forward - after all, Spirit has been rushed through his development thanks to a cruel, unforgiving world. He deserves an opportunity to digest the darkness in a healthier way.

Meanwhile, our Green Lantern has chosen to be entirely green, turning her back on Sinestro's ring and sending it home packing. However, defying Sinestro - no matter your tie to the man - is a dangerous decision to make. One cannot imagine Sinestro allowing that precedent to be set for long.

The Lanterns have needed their doctor for some time, Sinestro's hunting for his girl, and there's a growing war of light spreading across the universe. Now is the time for Soranik to return to action. I can't wait to see what the party does with her.

Hint: The strong, silent type.

Soranik was so cool.

When I first starting talking to Her Highness, Princess Iolande, I saw a few pictures because I started to really like her, then saw pictures of Soranik, and I was like "Damn, now THIS girl is straight up Saoirse's type of friend".

So I was really excited to meet her. After operating on Iolande and us wandering around a bit, Saoirse was just fed up with Umaraal and her shit and just hung out with Soranik. That was a lot of fun.

Soranik is great. One of the PCs requested to be stabbed while Spirit and Soranik were already operating on Iolande, so Soranik had to do both operations at once. Spirit is hoping he can learn to do that in case of an emergency.

In their first interaction on Oa she brought him to see Kyle, hoping he can figure out a way to help him that she missed. It remains to be seen if he will

No yes yes, is I think the answers. The yellow rings come from his Corps, so by default you're associated. There's a reason it's called Sinestro Corps and not Yellow lantern Corps.

It doesn't make you evil, but Hal Jordan possessed by Parallax was the most evil.

Other than that, we've yet to do the Yellow Corpsigin Mission so we've yet to see them in too fine a light.

#23 - Whisper a'Daire
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/2/9/7/AAUHRBAAER_5.png
Well, look who it is. Good to see you, nefarious mastermind mistress of the League of Assassins from Campaign 1. Why don't you pull up a seat and tell us your plans for the second campaign? Oh, you've managed in one tense scene to not only turn everything anyone knew about your character on its head, but also to potentially, possibly, probably, leave your PC Sworn Enemy - a rash, impulsive teenager who punches first and asks questions later - prepared... to deal with you?

Whisper excites me from a DM perspective. Sure, she was nothing less than the sort of intensely evil, overarching villain in the first campaign that left little to no wriggle room for how she should be dealt with. And yet, and yet, and yet... this time around, in a world where the scale has been expanded to include Eclipso, Darkseid, the Spectre, Mordru, and, quite frankly, Minerva's dad, Whisper doesn't look nearly half as bad on a second glance. That's good; after all, she had Brennus kidnapped, had his grandmother murdered, and forced Varra into a situation where she was prepared to turn Field into a superweapon aimed at Gotham City. It was only by the grace of Vertigo that the day was saved - clearly no one else. Thanks, Vertigo! And Brennus was forever left with an intense, brewing hatred for Whisper.

Except, well, Whisper was left alive by the party at the end of the day, and giving someone the opportunity to evolve, change, flourish in a new world means the decisions made yesterday aren't necessarily the ones you're ready to make today. Whisper saved the life of the party (alongside her constant canine companion, Kyle Abbott) when they were frantically attempting to escape from Zor the Time Tailor. What's more, she offered them valuable information about the Church of Blood, notably its extremist sect known as the Cult of Cain. And with a promise of meeting again, time, date and place all aligned, she hinted at being connected to what's becoming the biggest watershed location of the campaign.

Detroit.

Good God, I love Whisper. She's a spotlight-stealer unlike any other, capable of controlling a scene with ease. I (hopefully) don't let too many NPCs dominate a conversation, but Whisper is the sort of coy, serpentine woman who possesses the capacity to keep anyone off-balance. And now she has earned the forced obligation of a party that owes her their lives to at least hear the woman out. Exciting times. But while we wait, Brennus has been spiraling a bit, turning to the Queen herself, Amanda Waller, for guidance. And Amanda Waller doesn't pull punches.

I can't wait to see how everything goes down when a savvier, angrier, more experienced Brennus decides it's time for Whisper's comeuppance. It's going to beautiful.

Hint: Both a JSAer and JLAer, this legacy hero carries a mantle from a hero who debuted in the 1940s.
