Breach

For the moment, Major Zanetti, the second successful participant ever in the Atom Project is more of a Roz'etta Project. Rescued himself from the bowels of Area 51, Breach was the reason the party traveled to Area 51 in the first place, as the Visionary of Platinum Flats led them there to hunt down an item of significant importance. This item is Breach, a being that Darkseid seems to be extremely interested in capturing for his own purposes. Like others, such as Nightshade, the Ray and Lady Quark, Breach possesses some peculiar and unique function that makes him invaluable to Darkseid's continued conquest of Earth. And given his almost limitless nuclear abilities, it would make sense for a number of reasons.

This is where Rosetta comes in. Amanda Waller has forbidden Breach from entering the field; his energy signature is also extremely unique and easily identifiable. If word were to get back to Darkseid as to Breach's presence either in Z'onn Z'orr or the field, it could bring down the full might of Apokolips' forces on Checkmate. This is why Breach has been benched for the duration. Yet, Major Zanetti trained with the United States Army; nothing about waiting idly by while the country is at war sits well with him. So Rosetta has begun to form a sympathetic relationship with a man whose powers are godly and yet may in fact be the least useful member of the resistance right now. It's a really interesting story about being impotent in the face of a coming doom, and I've really enjoyed the two scenes the pair have had so far. I highly expect Breach to play a larger and larger role in the coming days - Black Canary has already hinted at more to come - but for now, this is a tale with no happy ending.

And with that, we're back to the ranking! The top half continues with our previous hint!
