If you just type in some words in a prompt and call the machine output "art", Id disagree with that assertion. If the human uses machine-generated images as a basis for another work, I'd say that's art. Ie, that comic book that was recently denied copyright protection I would say is perfectly valid art. The images themselves are machine-generated, but the author still had to script a story and arrange the images in a way that encapsulated the intent expression.
