Only brake checking I ever do is when some absolute yahoo decides to pull out right in front of me from a side road and putt down the road well below the legally posted speed limit and Im forced to stomp on the brake pedal in a Herculean effort to avoid rear ending them due to their sheer stupidity.

That has happened more than once to me in my small town recently, in case you were wondering. Really wish the DMV wouldnt readily hand out licenses to folks who clearly need a bit more time to study the meaning of defensive driving, just sayin.

That's not brake checking. That's reacting to idiots so you don't get into an accident.

Brake checking is intentionally hitting your brakes in front of someone to either cause them to hit you or take an evasive action.

Someone brake checked me once and it was a wakeup call to stop road raging.

People got so mad at me honking my horn that they literally tried to kill me.

Not like I'm saying I was in the right but if people are willing to potentially kill you over a loud noise, it's time to mellow out.

maybe, maybe not, but tailgaters don't always do it on purpose. can't say the same about brake-checking, which introduces a stupid and dangerous element to the road solely for the sake of proving a point.

The "bad behavior" we're talking about are road collisions. At worse the tailgator is an extreme annoyance. The brake checker is literally stomping on a peddle with the intent to cause bodily harm and property damage in an attempt at a gotcha. They're not really all that comparable.

Pretty sure the meaning of that bumper sticker is just "get off my fucking ass" in general, not a declaration of intent to brake-check. If you have to suddenly use your brakes for a legitimate reason such as a person/animal/car suddenly running or pulling out in front of you, you're going to get rear-ended by the dipshit who's tailgating because you're not speeding fast enough for them.
