Spent a half hour grinding chicken races and got like 270 ryo >_> Then I went to the slums and bought the Sturm and Drang gun and this thing shoots like a fucking machine gun because of the perk it has. It does more damage than the Golden Gun but man your thumb hurts from using it lol

I haven't messed around with the blacksmith too much but is there a way to improve the rating of a weapon you have? My Golden Gun is only one star and I want to make it 5 stars. Can I just improve it from there or do I actually have to craft a brand new Golden Gun and make it 5 stars?

The latter.

At the time of crafting, you have to make sure you use the hammer that will give it the better rating.

How that works depends on the base weapon. If the base weapon was gray (dull) then if you want to make a gold (best) weapon, you need to use a Kiwami Hammer.

Now if the base weapon is already green or purple or whatever, you will only have to use the hammer that knocks it up that many steps. So, if the weapon is blue (good), then you only need to use a Silver Hammer to make it gold.

Note that this is different than how it worked in the original Ishin. There you had to use hammers on already made weapons to upgrade them.

Ah okay, cuz I only have like 2 kiwami hammers and I don't know how to even get them >_> (I think I only got those from the DLC packs). But I know I can just farm silver hammers from the gambling den. Thanks!

Yeeeeeeah save the Kiwami Hammers for the "one-step" smithing, where there's only one base and one result and not a chain. I'm pretty sure Kiwami Hammers are prohibitively rare.

And of course it's something you want to use a lot going forward.

I'm not deep enough to know what all those scenarios are yet, though.

As long as you're able to craft twice to get your end result, two Silver Hammers will get you to the Gold/Best quality the same way a Kiwami Hammer would with a single use.

The only one-and-done gear to craft is some of the headgear that are just those items themselves and not part of a line. Even the Worn Magical Sword > Last of the Dragons line doesn't require the Kiwami Hammer because the Worn Magical Sword that you get is already the Gold/Best quality.

There might be some exceptions involving the dude in Mukurogai though because he's the only way to upgrade certain weapons and the quality appears to remain the same afterward, so there might be some weapons there that you only get one opportunity to use a hammer on. Haven't messed with him much yet.

Also never thought Sturdy Lumber of all things would be the material that I spent so much time looking for, but it appears to be one of those battle dungeon-only materials.

Oh FUCK! I'm going through the last chapter and getting to fight whoever Kuze's character is lol with motherfucking Pledge of Demon playing in the background is beyond fucking hype!

I can't believe I just figured out that I can equip the rapid fire gun and then go to the accessibility settings and turn on the setting to hold Square to auto-combo. Literally just holding Square to unleash a stream of bullets feels so broken but saves my thumb >_>

I didn't know that, either. It'd sure help for farming. Problem for me is I put my item discovery seals on my sword so I'd have to "produce" some more of them via the weird crafting method.

Alright just beat it. I liked it but it was pretty average compared to the other Yakuza games I've played so far imo. It felt kind antiquated in a couple of ways and half the substories just being grindy friendship meters was annoying. The setting is awesome though

0 > 7 > K2 > 4 > Ishin > 3 > K1

Still glad it came out here >_> Definitely gonna mess around in Premium Adventure now

A friend of mine stopped just short of 100% from exhaustion. Ishin! is one of her favorite games in the series and she feels this remake just does too much wrong to be ranked the same. She still thinks it's a good RGG game, but no longer stand-out above the pack.

I'm afraid this is going to be a case of "what could have been" down through history.

BUT... I guess it's time to look forward for the series rather than behind now.

What did they change about the remake that she didn't like?

lol, there's an exploit with the chicken race that lets you bet without actually using tags

Basically bet on every quintuple outcome, and then every triple outcomes, and such. Whatever you can during the time limit but start with quintuples first since they're worth the most. Then go to the main menu and go to quit chicken race. But before it blacks out, immediately scroll up and go to Start Race. Then the race will start with your bets in place but without any of your tags spent lol

I would say if you don't want to kill your fingers to just do the Quintuple Exactas. That's the lion's share of your winnings anyway.

I've only been doing a full spread on 2 chickens per race to save my fingers >_>, and if I lose, no worries. But doing X-left-X-down-X-left-X-down like 40+ times per race sucks

That's another thing I don't like about Ishin: there too much grinding for levels and equipment. I went through the whole game with most of the substories and I'm still missing a ton of materials for a bunch of weapons. I don't remember other games being this grindy for anything

It's been pretty rough. The grind is one thing but the RNG factor on top of it is what's sapping my will to do it.

Also now that I've started crafting some other weapons, I severely underestimated the Okanehira (flame sword) because of it's damage and lack of seal slots compared to the other endgame swords. Between the fire effect giving you knockdowns and it also having the wind element ability to send dudes flying, this thing is pretty sick.

I need to try that thing. I was gonna try to craft that 1300 attack sword but I'm still missing platinum shavings

By the way that statue sells for 25 ryo, which is a lot, but ultimately pales compared to what you can get from chickens.

What I learned so far. Exploit the chicken races, they may not be patched later :D

Man, back before I knew about chicken races, I would've killed for that statue. Now post-chicken races, I'm sitting on literally 1000+ ryo with nothing to spend it on lol

I went through different stages of making money, from ginseng to cho-han to battle dungeons. If not for the crafting completion I wouldn't even have even needed the chicken racing but I'm sure glad it's there for now.

That said, one of the things I've left for last is having to get 30+ materials for a sword and the best way is the final battle dungeon (where you get 20 Ryo for every completion), so I'm gonna end up making a ton of money anyway just from having to farm this crap.

Crafted a 5-star Vortex (best gun that has the rapid fire perk) and a 5-star Oni-maru (sword with the highest base attack in the game afaik). Let's fucking goooo

I'm working my way through the battle dungeons now but they're such a slog. They're all the same shit >_> I pretty much turn on auto-combo, auto-action, and distance assistance in accessbility settings just so I can breeze through them faster while listening to a podcast or something.

Let's Dance

The pseudo-machine gun is awesome for random encounters but everyone in the dungeon has armor which makes the gun almost useless. Is there any tips for dispatching enemies in the dungeon? Even with the sword with the highest stat and a near maxed out sword circle, it still takes forever to put one down >_>

The Trooper cards are a massive help. Ichiban, Shinada, and Ishioda were especially handy along the way. For big encounters with lots of enemies I'd stop time with Shinada, run around to each enemy and chop off their armor, then try to gather them and cast both Ichiban (big damage for short amount of time) and Ishioda (swirling AoE). Whoever was left had no armor, so the gun usually did the rest.

The Okanehira is like the perfect fit for what's needed with it's fire element (as well as the ability to send dudes flying, which isn't made clear) making knockdowns common, as well as the ingrained +20% to armor damage. Wish I used it sooner.
