Yea it was pretty underwhelming lol, but there are some other slice of life scenes if you interact with certain objects around the house.

Also out out of curiosity, how much Virtue do you all have? I feel like I have way too much.

I spend it constantly but I max out the virtue growth stuff first, so I'm getting a ton of it >_> I'm on chapter 7 and I have all farming perks, all cooking perks, all sprinting, and all Priest shops inventory

When you get a chance, take a look at the "Inviting Hat" at the blacksmith shop.

If you play against the house and start winning, watch for the camera to cut away to outside the room. Right after, you'll get a swift QTE. If you pass it, you'll spot the cheating and she'll be like "uhh no I'm not cheating". I can't confirm if you're guaranteed to win the throw or not, but I'm certain that if you miss the QTE, you're guaranteed to lose. When it happened to me I ended up winning the throw.

I never saw or even knew of the cho-han QTE until this game. It only showed up once and I got it, and it was a win.

Discovered the joys of toiling the earth. Man, I expected to have to plant and water. It's literally just "pick the spot and it'll keep growing" isn't it?

It is, but I think the end goal there is to fulfil the orders. So having to cook food and get a bunch of crops is annoying enough without having to actually water and manage the growth.

I remember running into an NPC that wanted to shove an eggplant up her vagoo and I had to grow it and wait >_>

Ah see when you have a guide to write you'll be hanging out on menu screens copying the information. Turns out it's just long enough for a harvest to happen lol.

First thing I did was prioritize having a little of everything.

I always forget how much these games rely on side content. It took me like 70 hours to get to Chapter 5, but then I got to Chapter 9 in an afternoon.

Chapter 3 is incredibly short if you just beeline to the story beats.

Go straight to Mibu for one fight. Go straight to Gion for another fight and done.

yeah I peeked in the completion list and saw 0/200 for equipment crafting and was like LOL that's not happening >_>

It's even worse than it looks. Beyond just the money and materials needed (some of which are only found through RNG), the seals that you can apply to equipment are 45 out of that 200 and the only reliable way to get seals is through a really unintended process via crafting. Other than that it's just more RNG.

I haven't had the chance to play it for a few days. I'm still just in chapter 7 doing side stuff

Im hoping to wrap up the game today, unless I run into a series of long cutscenes.

Alright, wrapped up the game. Fun time, but it definitely seems dated.

What was dated about it?

Not the ending specifically, just the game in general.

There were only a couple dynamic intros which I think they've leaned into more in recent games. As noticed a big chunk of substories were friendships which they toned down in 0. The big one is the engine change. While they did move to Unreal, they didn't really change much as far as I can tell, and the game still feels like an older Yakuza game instead of one from the Dragon Engine. Lost Judgments combat was so good lol

I maxed out Haruka's affection but apparently I'm still missing a slice of life seen that involves me sleeping in the bed. Nothing happens when I sleep in the bed >_> What gives?

This game absolutely feels like a game that came out between Yakuza 5 and Yakuza 0. They've updated some stuff with quality of life improvements, but honestly not nearly enough and in other areas they regressed.

I'm fighting Izo........ in chapter 12 and the theme is just a remix of the final boss theme from Yakuza 1. That's a really cool touch

They do that a few times that I noticed. Katsura's theme (remix of Akiyama's regular battle theme from 5) made me smile the widest. In one case (Shimano's) I think they just used the same song from Kiwami.

I do like the story but you definitely need to read up on a lot of Japanese history to understand all the context >_> I can kinda see why they might have passed on translating this game the 1st time around. It's kinda hard to follow what exact is going on without a base knowledge of the Edo period and Meiji Restoration

I need to mention how hard this one slaps. There's shades of 3 and 4's soundtrack but it's slightly more modern. It's like the quintessential Yakuza long-battle theme to me.

I wish Oryo was the MILF 39yo version of Yuki instead of the blank 21yo version of Yuki smh. They fucked up and chose the wrong version. Oryo is such a mid-waifu compared to Akari the priestess

Hit Chapter 4 and my sword damage went way up. Would have been nicer before when I died 8 times fighting Saejima guy, where I did 12 damage and he did 75-120 every damn swing.
