Rika Furude, Leon Kennedy, Kazuma Kiryu, Amaterasu and Lea have challenged Liquid Snake and Vivi Ornitier to a fight! Location of the fight: Shadow Moses Island - The bombed out, ruined site of Liquid's past ambitions, as seen in Metal Gear Solid 4. All enemies have been cleared out, and REX's husk is not present. Attackers will begin at the snowfield, while defenders will begin at REX's resting place. Which side will win?

Guidelines
- The fight will occur in real-time (like an FMV sequence). Gameplay mechanics are less important than how the characters would function in a real-time environment.
- The members of each team are ideal teammates capable of executing a prearranged battle plan.
- Unless stated otherwise, characters have access to their full arsenal of abilities and equipment. They may not always work at full power, however (e.g. a petrifying spell may have only a partial hindering effect not seen in gameplay or even fail outright against sufficiently powerful mercenaries). Use your own discretion.
- There may be SPOILERS from all of the games the characters are from.

Rules for Voting
- Bold your votes.
- You do not need to require justification for your vote, though the admins reserve the right to disqualify votes in the advent of obvious alt voting and other similar scenarios.
- Leaders cannot vote for their own teams, but they are free to argue their case.
- If you want to switch your votes simply bold the change; there's no need to delete your post, though you may if you wish.
- This match will end in 24 hours.

Amaterasu is as she appears in Okami. She comes into battle with maximum Godhood and full upgrades, but no items of any kind besides the Fire and Water Tablets and one Inkfinity Stone. Time will not stop while she uses the celestial paintbrush, though she has full access to all of its moves as well as her full Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 moveset. She has activated her Veil of Mist ability, slowing down time for 15 seconds to half its normal speed at the start of the battle. She will be able to act normally at her full speed while the effect lasts.

Kazuma Kiryu is as he appears in the Yakuza series, at the peak of his fighting prowess. He comes into battle equipped with three bottles of Staminan Royale, the Ama-no-Murakumo blade, Extremely Sturdy Brass Knuckles, a 9mm handgun with unlimited ammo, the Transcendent Body Armor and a motorcycle. He may use any of his fighting styles, Heat Actions and techniques as he sees fit, and starts the battle with full Heat, which will not drain unless used. He will mysteriously keel over 5 minutes into the battle, dead and unable to be revived in any way, shape or form. Both teams are fully aware of this and have factored it into their battle plans. He is in contact with Liquid Snake, who is masquerading as his mentor over Codec. Liquid will shed his faade once both teams meet and begin a gleeful monologue about how he's misled Kiryu. Kiryu will be generally be none the wiser of the deception, and will genuinely believe he is being given helpful advice from a reliable source, although he still won't do anything obviously incorrect, nonsensical, or out of character just because Liquid says so.

Leon Kennedy is as he appears in the Resident Evil series, including canonical supplementary media. He comes into battle with his two Wing Shooter pistols, his knife, a Lightning Hawk magnum, a handful of grenades and the Chicago Typewriter, all fully upgraded.

Lea is as she appears in CrossCode, with all of her circuits fully maxed out and all Combat Arts and Elements fully available. She is assumed to be made of regular matter for the sake of all possible interactions (including weight and inflicting status effects), comes into battle with postgame equipment, is not in contact with Sergey and does not have access to any food buffs.

Rika Furude is as she appears throughout Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. She has no equipment other than her school uniform and a mop, and is pretty much exactly as terrible at fighting as you would expect a ten year old girl to be.

Liquid Snake is as he appears in Metal Gear Solid, piloting the Jeep from the nearest convenient location to his team's starting point. Liquid may disembark from the jeep, using his machinegun and CQC skills as appropriate. His most favored limb has fallen off. He will feel no pain from losing it, but will have to make do for the week's battle without it. He is unable to speak, save for the words 'Hi', 'Bye', 'Why', 'How', 'Wait', 'Meet', 'Sorry', 'Thanks' and his own (first) name. These vocalizations will have no special effects they would not otherwise have normally.

Vivi Ornitier is as he appears in Final Fantasy 9, equipped with his ultimate endgame equipment and his full complement of passive abilities, minus all auto abilities except for Auto-Reflect (which he may dismiss at will but not reapply). He has access to all of his spells save Death, may apply Element Null as he sees fit and may perform Sword Magic combos with other allies as appropriate. Doomsday will not necessarily hit all enemies nor allies automatically.

Lea and friends

I actually thought the other team took it before realizing Lea was a battle merc oops.

I would like to start off by just asking people about this interaction:

I actually think Kiryu is the exact type of person to overthink this and think that his mentor just has really bad cell reception, creating a hilarious misunderstanding where no one else believes that Kiryu would fall for this, and Kiryu goes "oh no, everyone is mad, and it's all because I don't understand team chat"

And then he wins a fight and wins anyway as the substory guitar music plays.

but the idea of Liquid communicating "Hi! Wait!" over comms is the funniest thing to happens so far in Mercs V

Liquid's interaction with Kiryu needs a full Drakeryn journal entry.

There's elements in here I'm excited to see debated later. Lea vs. Vivi is a spectacle of fast flying projectiles reflected back and forth. I'm sure Lea wins in the end one-on-one, but there's so much fun collateral damage to be had and survived.

And I know Snake in MGS would often have to physically tap into his comms to talk over Codec. I don't know if things were different for Liquid or changed up later on. I'm just imagining Liquid driving one handed and trying to give advice or talk because he loves to do that and he just keeps going back from wheel to ear to wheel, and he could just not drive, but then how would he get the adorable waddling mage to the battle? And how distracted is he when he can't monologue at length? When his vocabularly is as handicapped as his body?

Liquid and Vivi crash and die before battle. Don't talk on the phone while driving, kids. Especially when you drive on through this arm.

Team CrossCode

Kiryu might believe it's Majima playing a bad joke on and they meet just for him to fall over. "Hihihihihihihihihi"

But this is rather one sided.

Addendum to the match writeup:

Leon Kennedy has completely forgotten his own identity, and believes he is Slave Knight Gael, from Dark Souls 3. He will try to act and fight in battle as Gael would, coloured through the lens of his own natural personality. If he lacks the capability to fight as the missing mercenary at all (e.g. a gunman lacking the capacity to cast magic like a wizard would) he will gain comparable techniques to his object of idolization, though how powerful and skilful these techniques will be past a basic level is up to voter interpretation and he will have access to none of Gael's equipment. He will maintain the fiction through the battle, though sufficient enough evidence of his own past will shock his out of his delusion.

oh well in THAT case Vivi solos

Ok so first off... This is somewhat of a foregone conclusion. Team Kiryu Won This By Scaring Cloud Back to Sector Nine.

That said every mental image accompanying this fight is hilarious and I would like to draw your attention to as many of mine as I can think of.

Leon S. Kennedy has been convinced he's a (really cool) zombie.
Liquid Snake's arm has come off and he's trying to drive his jeep with his other hand. (Sadly he cannot live on through it.)
Liquid Snake is also trying to convince Kiryu to act against his team via one-word phrases over codec. There is no way this doesn't sound unhinged, and yet Kiryu is certain the advice is sound. If he could only interpret it!
I'm fairly certain Liquid is also trying to teach Vivi to drive using his one-word phrases because how else is he going to shoot his gun? And Vivi, being a team player, is doing his best. God bless him.

There is literally no way this doesn't end in Lea and Amaterasu sending this jeep and its unfortunate passengers straight to hell in a comically large fireball, but I have to reiterate, this only happened because Kiryu Kazuma was such a badass that Cloud Strife took one look at him and decided he wasn't getting paid enough for this shit. He was only in it for the money, or so he said, much like the intro to his game. And frankly he was getting paid a LOT in this round! So while poor Mewtwo is only here to not get fined, I thoroughly enjoyed thinking about this one anyways. Cheers.

This is where I wave a sign saying PLAY CROSSCODE because deadass you get multiple instances of Lea trying to communicate complex concepts with a very limited vocabulary and it's both really funny sometimes and also heartbreaking

Why is this the most hilarious mental image I've had in a while? Like just taking this completely out of context. Something about this specific duo driving a jeep off a cliff on their way to the battle is just too funny.
