Peggy for that matter .

It like they go out of the way to make these characters hard to root for. However oddly the most hated wife. Skyler White. She did nothing at all wrong. I don't understand the hate that she gets.

Lois Griffin is no worse than anyone else on Family Guy. There's a huge difference between the wife being awful while the other characters are all good, vs a universe where it's just that (almost) everyone is awful.

Mainly because she's a woman, but also because she's "ruining the fun" of Walter, a lying, murderous, meth making, monster, but that's ok because he's the main character.

Obnoxious wife characters are great though.

Chi-Chi is amazing compared to Goku

and they go out of their way to make the husband or father an idiot :

Peter Griffin, Homer Simpson, the American Dad!, Earl Sinclair, Goku, the guy from King of the Hill, the dad from Married with Children

and the few who arent idiots like that are angry all the time like Red from that 70s show

Florida had a good reason to be like that both in the context of the show, and in real life.

Eh she passive aggressively guilt tripped Walter into getting cancer treatment when he didn't want to. I didnt like her because of that, and that was before he had the idea of cooking meth.

I feel bad for Anna Gunn and the hate she got.

I was going to use Mitty Foreman as an example of a mother/wife being the best person in a show.

I just started watching the Proud Family reboot and I totally forgot how much better of a parent Trudy is compared to Oscar. I have no idea why she's with him.

She kept that family in poverty. She was a gift to the white viewers. Saying we won't be too radically. They know their place and Florida is going to keep them in it.

skyler is not intended to be an enjoyable character. off rip she's getting on him about using the wrong cards, criticizing him for missing a surprise bday party after he learned he has cancer (i think it was after that), and giving him wack handjobs for his bday while simultaneously shopping on ebay. walt's life is disappointing compared to what it "should" have been and she's a representation of that. that's my skyler take.

now calling the character out her name and acting shitty towards the actress was/is totally uncalled for.

Lois in Malcolm in the Middle is one of the best characters in the show. Without her the whole family would fall apart. She seems overbearing but the kids are assholes.

Hank Hill is definitely not an idiot. Dude is kind of televisions gold standard for fathers/husbands/men

Hank's not an idiot, he's just very set in his ways and has a fair number of preconceived notions, both of which are traits that are frequently challenged as a core aspect of the show.

I saw Mike Judge at Comicon once and he talked at length about how the writers approached Peggy and wanted to make her an interesting character. He was upset some people just hated her because he thought they gave her more depth than that.

I have listed a number of women who characters are not the greatest and none of those character gets treated as poorly as Oscar. Besides not being a deadbeat dad he is ever other stereotype of black men. He literally is bullied by his own family, is hot head , is weak, and the list can go on.

Sticky is gone , because is VO went crazy.

And in this new version. They literally got upset with Zoey because she was dating a black guy who only dated white girls. And the whole thing was about how horrible he and she was. Think about that a TV policing who black boys date. And saying they are wrong for it.

I wouldn't call Hank Hill an idiot by any means. He's not perfect, but neither are most people. There are other positive examples out there too... Bob Belcher comes to mind.

Florida was portrayed as the rock of the family as far as I can remember.

Breaking Bad really is a weird show. It's amazing don't get me wrong, but I don't understand how it gets me to root for a villain so much and hate Skyler when she's just being a reasonable person for the whole show lmao.

She was heavily pregnant at the time and they were already struggling financially, plus she already had a teen with cerebral palsy. With all that on her shoulders, her husband her partner, was talking about just checking out and dying and leaving her with all that. The vast majority of people would react the same way as very few people actually do what Walter was suggesting there. It was not unreasonable in any way for her to feel like her was proposing abandoning her.

Lois is the best character on Malcom tbh

I'm also one who thinks Peggy Hill is a great character. She's as flawed as everyone else is and other characters who are beloved are worse people than she is. Her extremely high self esteem and delusions of grandeur can be hilarious.

Yeah, she had her flaws of course, but they weren't enough to deserve the level of hate she got, which was mostly because she was the "bitch who spoiled Walter's fun/business".
